Is it true that if you stay at Yacht and Beach club then you have to use the entrance at World Showcase to get into Epcot and can't use the entrance at Future World? Thanks.

There is no transportation to the FW entrance only a boat that takes you to the International Gateway entrance and by walking to the IGW entrance. Its a very short walk and its nice to see the UK and Canada before WSC opens--good photo ops.

The International Gateway was opened so the guest staying at the BW, YC&BC, Swain, & Dolphin would have easy access to EPCOT you can't get any better then walking a few steps and being there.

Why did you want to use Main Entrance? The International gateway has Guest Services, and EMH.

Thanks. i appreciate it. I was just wondering. I have never stayed at either before and besides Contemporary is a choice for my next trip. Plus I heard that by the time you get to World Showcase the lines for Test Track are huge even on an Early entry Day

I believe they let you enter early then hold you at FW so you have the same opportunity as anyone waiting from the Main Entrance. I have never had any trouble arriving at MS or Test Track.

No they don't.

When we were down there in November, stayed at BWI, and used the IG entrance. They didn't even inspect your bags until 8:00. So you are WAY BEHIND the main gate people.

betterlatethannever- Totally Untrue, Was there last Dec and they let us in early. I was surprised but it was a nice treat cause we were able to take our time to the rope and enjoy the scenery and then again I went back in May for my wedding and they did let us enter and wait at the ropes to FW again. They actually let us enter like 15 minutes earlier so that we could get to the ropes at good time. A CM even gave us and a couple of other guest front of the line tickets. Thank you Daren!!

I am glad WDW is consistent with its inconsistencies.;)

Maybe it was just a fluke that they didn't open early that weekend.

Anyway, congrats on your wedding.

How early is early? If FW opens at 9 and it's an EMH day (so we could get in at 8) what time will we be able to get in to the International Gateway entrance?

I want to be at Soarin' before the line gets too long!

Or is there a faster way to get to the FW part other than walking through the park?

Also, is there ANY way to get from the Boardwalk to the monorail on the other side of EPCOT WITHOUT going through the park (on a non-park day?)

Thanks to a VERY generous DVC-member friend, my mom, sister, sil and I get to stay at the Boardwalk for our ladies-only visit to EPCOT this weekend!

I'm with betterlatethannever - in a dozen trips to YC, with many morning entrances to Epcot via IG, I have never been let in early in order to get to FW right at park open time. ellieb, you may have gotten lucky a couple times, but I believe that this is more the exception than the norm.

If it is an EMH morning, you will be let in at 8, just like at the main entrance.

No - what faster way could there be?

You could take a taxi from BW to front entrance of Epcot. But there is no way to just walk through Epcot in order to get to the monorail without using a park admission.

During my stays they never let anyone in earlier because we were waiting at the Gateway. We got in at the same time the front opened. I always thought the same thing that we should get a head start but no. We've never had a problem to get to Soarin or Test Track but that's because my teenage son would just take our tickets and make a beeline and get a fastpass for Soarin while the rest of us headed for Test Track. Usually first thing you don't have that long of a wait. By the time we got off Test Track we'd head over to Soarin and wait a bit and then get on that ride and then we just waited for our time with the fastpass and went on again. This usually does work out and by noon we've done all the rides at least twice, even Mission to Mars.

Sounds exhausting doesn't it:scared:

Just to add:
We've had several stays at BW and BC, and the farthest we have been let in at IG before the opening time (maybe 20-25% of the time), (for a whopping 50 yards or so), we had to stop at a rope, right before the bridge beside England. And, they only let us in that far just a few minutes (maybe 5)before opening. Possibly, this was because there was a logjam of people behind us, and they wanted to thin out the crowd a bit.
We've never been let in further, and usually we haven't been allowed to enter at all through the IG, before the actual opening time.

In all my stays at BW, BC and the S/D, I have yet to be allowed entry before the official park opening. The Intl Gateway opens at exactly the same time the front of the park opens. And yes, unless you are a speed walker, you will be a bit behind the front of the park people heading to TT or M:S. But, you can get to Soarin' a bit quicker.

How much would it cost to take a taxi from BWI to the entrance of Epcot? I'm assuming you can't just walk from BWI to the entrance without going through the park? Would the taxis even want to take you on such a short hop?

In our previous stays at the BC, we have taken a cab to the front entrance to Epcot to be there for rope drop. I don't remember how much it cost, but it was well worth the convenience. We'll be doing the same thing in three weeks.

One of the great advantages of BC (or any of the Epcot resorts) is that the IG entrance to Epcot is within walking distance of the resorts and is, almost always, a less congested and quicker way to enter the park. Entering from IG may cost you a couple minutes getting to some of the attractions in the morning, but it is no more than 5 minutes, at most. In order to save this de minimis amount of time, you would forgo one of the key benefits of staying at an Epcot resort and incur the expense of taking a cab from BC to the front of Epcot? :confused3 To each his own, I guess.

While I totally agree with what you say, one reason I could see doing this, is if there is a rope drop show with characters like at MK.

I agree with Ed. In fact, one morning when Epcot opened at 9am a year or so ago, one of the guards was chatting with her friend. So bag check didn't even begin until 9:03 or so.:confused3

I think I recall last year we entered through the IG and they let us walk as far as Canada where it was then roped off.
