Okay I know I'm probably in the minority (nothing new here), but I don't think it's kids that need the warning labels. Kids are awesome. They make it up as they go along. They're not the problem. It should be husbands that come with warning labels.

I'm just worried that I won't get him to the bathroom fast enough and we'll have pee stains/smells all in the carpet.

I'm also worried I didn't start soon enough. Every book I've picked up says you're supposed to start potty training around 18 mos of age. We waited until after his second birthday and it became so stressful, I just quit trying. But within the last couple of weeks, he's started showing signs of being 'ready' (or at least that's how I interpret them): He actually WANTS to go in the bathroom and sit on his potty, he's gotten quite good at pulling his pants up/down and, when in a regular diaper, he lets us know he is wet/dirty by pulling his diaper off and handing it to us. I'd say that's ready for toilet training, wouldn't you?

You didn't wait too long, a lot of boys aren't ready until they are older. Aiden wasn't truly ready until shortly before his 3rd birthday. And yes, your son sounds ready for training now.

It's just so hard to know what you're doing when you've never done this before ya know? And my mother isn't helping. "Princess Brat-o-matic (my sister's oldest who turned 2 back in Jan)is already potty trained and almost poop trained!"
Well yeah, but she's a GiRL. Girls are notoriously easier to potty train than boys, or did you forget?
