Ashley to Adam: I Know What You Did Last Summer
Ashley starts remembering Adam's machinations this week and confronts him about trying to convince her she murdered Sabrina.
"The first memory is pretty powerful," recounts Eileen D. "Ashley's strong enough now that she can face it, and part of her really needs to deal with it. So she's able to let herself remember."
It all starts while Ashley and Abby are unwrapping a purple baby blanket from Dina (Ashley's mom). When Ashley sees it, she has a flashback to last summer. "It's the same purple as the cloth that Adam said he pulled off the bumper of Victor's car, when Ashley thought she had possibly killed Sabrina," explains Davidson. "It starts Ashley on this whole magical mystery tour. Seeing that fabric triggers the whole thing. I guess deep down in Ashley's subconscious."
Ashley asks Abby to help her find the strip of purple cloth. "It's proof that Adam told Ashley she killed Sabrina," says Davidson. "The cloth means she can have tangible proof that Adam has one this. It was always a vague memory."
Ashely rips apart the house looking for the swatch. When Sharon arrives, Ashley asks her to take Faith, so she can continue searching. Sharon heads off with the baby and goes to see Adam. She tells him about Ashley's meltdown, and Adam panics and races home. That's when Ashely confronts him about tryng to make her believe she committed murder. "Ashley asks, 'Why did you want to do that to me?' " recounts Davidson. "Adam denies he ever did it. That's when Ashley knows something is really up, because she knows it happened. She knows Adam is lying. She knows what he said.
"Adam's become the enemy to her, because that's messing around with a not-very-funny topic," points out Davidson. "That's her sanity. Adam denying it ever happened is saying Ashley is crazy. It doesn't make any sense to her. Adam was her best friend. Ashley's trying to wrap her brain around the realization that someone who she thought she knew, she didn't know at all."
Phyllis arrives in the middle of their argument and hears Ashley ask Adam why he is trying to drive her crazy. "Phyllis actually starts accusing Adam, as well, because she has questions about Dr. Taylor," notes Davidson. "Phyllis is putting things together on a bigger scale than Ashley is."
Neil shows up next, and Ashley asks Adam to leave. Then Ash explains everything that went down to Neil. Neil vows to get to the bottom of things. "Neil's never trusted Adam," points out Davidson, adding that Ashely "is also realizing that it's not a stretch for people to believe bad things about Adam. Adam isn't this nice guy. That's really the most important thing. She realizes that he was spoon-feeding her misinformation to make her think that she was nuts."
And Adam realizes his whole world could soon come tumbling down around around him. "If Ashley starts to remember everything, is she going to remember everything ?" muses Davidson. "What does this mean about Faith? At this point, [Ashely does not know what she's after]. She just knows that Adam is lying and she doesn't know why. Ashely feels deeply betrayed."
