TV Guide Canada's Nelson Branco is reporting that Eric Braeden has been written out of the The Young and the Restless, also confirming Daytime Confidential's reports that the actor has in fact been embroiled in tense contract negotiations!

A few weeks ago, we jumped the gun by assuming the casting call for "Tucker" was a Victor recast, however, given the casting calls that went out when Jess Walton was going through her negotiations, and the fact that we'd been hearing strong rumblings that Braeden was being asked to take a pay cut at the end of his cycle— not at the end of his full contract in 2010— we couldn't help but wonder if Tucker was a new Newman. Y&R later clarified the character is an entirely new one.

I am guessing the Y&R set is going crazy lately. They are killing people off left and right. Bringing oldies back. Putting some cast members on re-ocurring status. And letting some fade into dark.

Is Eric Braeden the Man Who Won’t Come Back?

Stop the presses! Emmy winner Eric Braeden has been written out as the iconic Victor Newman on Y&R. The actor has already taped his last scenes. Reportedly, Victor and Nikki go on vacation.

For the past few weeks, Braeden has been involved in intense negotiations. While his contract is up at the end of 2010, Y&R has been asking actors to take pay cuts when their 13-week cycles expire.

Actors like Braeden and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki), who this past summer was written out after she balked over the same issue, are furious; not over the fact that they are being asked to take pay cuts but that they are being expected to re-negotiate their contracts during their 13-week cycles. It is important to note that they are willing to take pay cuts but at the end of their contracts.

“Everyone knows they have to take a slash in pay,” says an insider. “That isn’t the issue — the issue is that their current contract isn’t being respected. Once you open up a contract during a cycle, the original contract is null and void and you must start over from scratch. Eric thinks he should be paid his current salary until next year. The same thing happened to MTS. Her contract wasn’t up this summer — her cycle was.”

As previously reported, Y&R is currently transitioning Adam Newman to inherit his father’s complex history. Additionally, the sudser has announced it’s casting a new millionaire bad guy named Tucker with a big name to cover their bases. “The casting call is not a scare tactic,” says an executive. “Tucker is a real role.”

During Braeden’s last tape date, the actor gave a speech to the cast saying he may not come back and thanked the cast and crew for decades of memories. “He said he wasn’t sure if he’d ever be back, and thanked everyone for their hard work,” says one co-star. “He got emotional towards the end. After his speech, there was dead silence. We were all stunned,” says another witness.

Meanwhile, Adam creates a distraction • After Nikki learns Traci has donated Colleen's organs, she asks if Colleen's heart can go to Victor. This doesn't sit well with the Abbott clan

If they remove Victor and Nikki I must say I will loose a lot of interest. They are a big part of this soap. Instead of getting rid of victor why dont they just get rid of the stupid bad writers and get some better ones and maybe than there ratings will go back up.

Think about how many are on hiatus right know...Neil, and that motley crew are no where to be seen.....the ones they have just killed off......the house keeper and Ralf....They never show Jabot anymore with all the extras walking around...Phyllis and her daughter are gone.....The people that run the Nicks magazine.....it is like a skeleton cast. Who else is gone??? some just pop in and out for 3 seconds...like Mac, shes not on all the time anymore either.

so you take this skeleton cast and remove Nikki and Victor from it and bring in this new yahoo....ummm why??? are they trying to get out with the old and in with the new....cheaper labor?

And so what about Ashley? Victor just picks up and goes off with Nikki? Adam is boring.....have already seen how bad he can get and there for nothing he could do anymore that would surprise me.

the stupid stories they are writing.....I find myself fast forwarding more and more....I use to look forward to watching every day...know I DVR it and watch when I feel like it.

what did I miss with WDW???...I have been busy with all the cruise stuff and the boards being on over load from that. And opening day for the 2011 cruises. Man were the DCL boards running like crazy this past week and today was a busy.

so between that and what ever you are referring to with WDW no wonder the boards were so stupid slow!

It just doesn't make any sense for Victor and Nikki to run off together - unless they clear up the baby swap storyline quickly - Ashley is so unstable, and supposedly she is about to give birth to Victor's child - no way would he leave a baby with her!

The code and deals??? board got wind of th new deal, people starting calling yesterday morning, and even though the deal is supposed to come out later (either today or Thu depending on who you talk to) they were honoring it! Since I was home with the kids, I found out early, too. I moved our trip from July to March, and we are staying in a moderate instead of AllStar Sports for the 1st time!

The kids are better, and I actually got some sleep last night, so I'm heading to work today. Thanks everyone for asking! I love this board, even if I hate the Y&R writers right now

I hadn't thought about the lack of people around, but you're right. There is no one drinking coffee at the coffee house, no one in the GCAC. Maybe it is destined to go the way of GL. Once you lose the top people (and I won't miss them, BTW) the show does sort of fall apart.

Sure does...I use to be a big GL watcher than it started falling apart and the writing was so silly. Than I turned it on about a month before it was to go off and saw that Olivia was now Gay....what is up with the writers wanting to make characters that have never been gay, gay all of a sudden....Even my BFF who is gay and watched it said it was silly.

Look at why the Original Adam left in our show and on another soap they wanted to do this to some character that had been non gay for 30 years on the show and all of a sudden they wanted her to be gay.....Geesh.

This show is loosing it's pizazz. We spend more time coming in here complaining about it than bragging about it. Funny once I get the spoilers I read them and feel no interest on watching it because I already got the just of it here. And the just ain't that interesting.

So will be interesting to see if Nikki and the Mustache ride off into the sunset as Victor never to be seen again.

This is just unreal to me. I can't imagine Y&R without Victor.

•Billy and Jack refuse to give Colleen's heart to Victor but Jack changes his mind after speaking to his father and Nikki - complete BS!
•Sharon wants to have her baby at the hospital but it is too late, she's in labor and gives birth. Sharon is delirious and passes out after having Faith, while this happens Adam takes away Faith and gives her to Ashley

Next - Sharon wants to see her daughter; Dr Taylor realizes what Adam did

Nick is absolutely reeling from the death of the baby. Phyllis doesn't understand the depth of why ... until he confesses. "He's been planning to tell her the truth all along," wanted to wait until she got back home to tell her in person. Phyllis is like no biggie, totally supportive. Nick tells Victoria about the baby. Sharon tells everybody (Noah, Jack) about the baby. Jack wants Sharon to take care of herself ... and Phyllis shows up to lend her support. Ashley later introduces Nick to his sister (really his daughter, Faith). He has no idea the child is his but "he just feels peace holding this new life." Adam's plot begins to show signs of unraveling when Sharon wants ashes and Jack tells Ashley about Sharon's miscarriage. Morrow assures "I think this will go on for a while...Maria has put together an awesome story."
