After using this to put adhesive on my sizzlit letters, I've found that there's "leftover" adhesive making my pages sticky. Any suggestions of how to remove this stickiness?

TIA!
Brenda

I've had the same problem. I just ordered one of those "Pick-up Squares" from CM for this purpose. In the meantime I just use my finger which works fairly well. I have seen some kind of "adhesive removal" product at JoAnns. I didn't pick it up & don't even know the name of it. :confused3 But I'm sure if you ask at your store they'd be able to help you. It was a "consumable" product & cost more than the CM square which is why I'm going that route.

Also - I've been taking the corner of a sticker backing sheet & using that to attempt to remove the excess adhesive that gets caught in the corners & openings in letters.

Use an emery board to "file" off the dirty ends of the square.

It works.

Thanks for the tip, Judy! I was wondering if I needed to order 2 while I was at it.

Archivers had an adhesive eraser that I almost got the other day. It say to just cut off the end when it got too dirty, but I like the idea of filing it. :flower:

I use my Xyron for my Quickutz letters all the time and this is what I do:

Run my letters through and then before I pull the plastic sheet off, I take a dry embossing stylus and "trace" my letters. After that, I pull off the plastic sheet and use the letters and there is absolutely NO glue on the edges at all. You don't have to do a good job "tracing" either, I do it really quick and make sure to get the insides of the letters and that usually does the trick. If I forget to do that, then I use an adhesive pickup. I know that 3M makes on and so does Making Memories.

I use the CM pick up square too, and I cut away at it as it gets dirty. You could also make your own "eraser" with rubber cement. Brush it on a piece of paper and keep rolling it into a ball that is big enough to handle, it does the same thing as the pick up square.

i do the same thing as heather does...with a stylus, or something else similar...i also have the xyron glue thing...though i have yet to use it.

a friend of mine does this....on the paper (the clear one that is on the top of the sandwhich...clear paper, letters, backing...it says rub and peel) she just runs it through her hands a few times and she says that works...

sometimes, I do the rub and peel thing too. Usually I do that when I can't seem to find my stylus. It seems to work pretty well, but to me nothing beat the stylus technique.

I've been hesitant to rub too hard or too much on the plastic sheet because the first letters I used in my Little X machine continually adhered to the plastic sheet instead of remaining on the backing paper. :( The way I got around it was to not press at all. I do think my problem was that those letters were too small. (They weren't Sizzlet letters - they were from the JoAnns Essentials set of alpha punches.)

Although I have some residue with larger items, at least they peel off properly!

actually, I think rubbing it between the plastic and the backing will help prevent this from happening.

Evidently not when the letters are really small! I did rub - and rubbed lightly and rubbed a lot - none of those worked with the small letters. The only way I could use them was if I didn't rub at all! The rubbing seemed to make the letters stick to the plastic sheet instead of the backing. When I tried to peel them off of the plastic sheet, the paper usually separated.

I just bought a thing at Archiver's, here's a link to it at another store: http://store.scrapbook.com/ek-ekadr01.html

Anyway, it works *great* at removing the excess adhesive from the Xyron and also for cleaning up old photos that have questionable adhesive on them. I've used it a LOT and it's well worth the 2 bucks I spent on it.

I also just rub with my fingers. I just go around & press each item REALLY well with my finger.

I used to have lots of "goobers" before I started rubbing before peeling. I picked up the technique somewhere on the web.

graygables,

i have that one too, though i have yet to use it!!! seems like i have alot of stuff and don't use much!!! can you tell that i collect way more than i scrap???

just like a few others have mentioned, I use the CM pick up square, and cut off the edges when it gets too dirty. Works well.
