I agree with Microcell. Please don't leave. At least try to ride it out until the election is over. I know that I get very discouraged by all of the political sniping--but the DIS is really a place full of wonderful supportive people. Don't give up!

Unfortunatly there are a lot of people on here that don't care about others feelings and think its fun to start fights but thats not EVERYONE!

I have been hurt on the DIS before and have thought of leaving and I honestly don't come around as much as I used to, but that being said there are so many TERRIFIC PEOPLE here. I have just learned to roll my eyes and ignore the silly people and come here to talk, laugh, cry and have fun with the many GREAT folks that are here.

I'm sorry you feel that way, Cati. Just the other day I was mentioning how lately even on the innocent enough threads, someone just has to jump in and disagree for the sake of doing it or completely blows something out of proportion. Those are pretty sad people! THEY are the ones begging for attention. Always being nasty, accusatory, or thinking they're above everyone else and know it all.

If you're really going, I hope it's just for a break. Try back after the elections and see if it's settled down at all. I'm hoping so, although for me the huge difference showed up with the Debate board fizzled out. Good luck!!

I posted a thread similar to this a few weeks ago when I had just found these boards - I was encouraged to stay and try to just stay off the HOT topics!

I used to work on Capitol Hill and I kid you not when I say that it is more bi-partisan than this board! It seems to me that people do not respect others opinions and often take counterpoints as attacks and attack back when they were not even attacked to begin with! (Did that make sense?)

Last night someone was criticizing the title of a thread.

I think that in the spirit of 9/11 we should all try to be a little nicer and respectful of each other's feelings!

I will even make a post and tell everyone to quit being so mean if you will stick around!!!!!!!

Cati, I'm sorry you feel the need to leave. I too see many times that less than kind things are thrown at posters. I've thought about jumping in and confronting those people, but what would be the point? I feel that I need to stay above their level. I just carry on as if they don't exist. I exchange pleasant and sincere thoughts with the many nice people that frequent these boards. I try to follow that old adage "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Being nice always pays off in the long run. Those that aren't will get their just deserts eventually.

I am constantly amazed when people are upset that others don't agree with them or were "mean" to them on these boards. You probably don't know those people so why do you care? (I figure from some posts I have actually gotten lists of people I don't want to know LOL!)
