Xmas Parade w/ Kelly & Regis

Thanks everyone for all of your thoughts about the Xmas parade taping. Because this will be a short trip for us, I'm not concerned about watching them tape. A quick glance of it in action may be fun, but I don't particularly like crazy crowds like that. We were thinking about going on Sat, but I may switch to Friday instead.

Does anyone know why the Candlelight Processional (5:00 showing only) is closed to public?

Oh, for those of you who usually travel during the 1st week in December, do you typically swim at pools or waterpark - or is it too cold for your tastes?

Thanks for all of the great advice!!

Yep, I wonder too. In fact, how are the other parks on taping day? My last day is Saturday, Dec 4th, so I don't want to be hassled at MK. Which park would you suggest? Probably Epcot, eh?

I hope they're not still taping on Sun (5th) when MVMCP begins!! We plan on arriving in the late afternoon for the party and I hope they're all done and gone by then - if they're not then we will go right up to the train platform - see what we can see from there (wanted my little nephew to be awed by Main St when it's decorated for Xmas!) - then take the train back into the park and avoid Main St altogether. Someone reassure me that they don't do any taping/controlling of the crowds during any MVMCP hours !:smooth:

I'm sure they will be done by then if they film during the day. It's dark by 5:30-6:00. They can't film in the dark if they are showing it on Christmas morning, that will spoil the illusion that it's live.

In 1999 or 2000, they taped during MVMCP and showed the parade at night instead of Christmas morning. I don't think they have made any announcements on when they will be televising the parade this year or if Regis & Kelly will even be the announcers. The year they did it at night it was Susan Sullivan and Jerry Van ****. They usually have a press release in the fall announcing their holiday show schedules for TV.

I am one of the few that actually enjoyed the taping last year. We went to MK knowing about the taping but not really knowing what to expect. When we got there, Main Street was very crowded but we managed to find a spot right at the curb. They were filming the finale of the parade which was actually taped before the rest of the parade. If you watch the parade, you'll notice that in the finale people are wearing winter coats and warm clothes but earlier in the parade, people are wearing no coats and some short sleeves because it was taped in the afternoon and the finale was taped in the morning. Clay Aiken walked by us which I totally wasn't expecting. He didn't stop for autographs or pictures, but that's understandable. If he stopped for one picture, he'd have people just swarming around him. We stood right by Santa's float and there was a choir there from England. They were singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" along with Clay Aiken. They did it over about 3 or 4 times but it was fun. The choir members interacted with my one year old and we saw ourselves on tv Chrismas morning. After that was over we went to some of the attractions but it was very crowded. We were on our way out early that afternnon but stopped on Main Street to see some of the floats as they were taping another portion of the parade. Then when we stopped further down Main Street again, a cm rushed us and told everyone to keep moving. If this is your first time at Mk, you might want to go another day. It won't be enjoyable if you want to take a leisurely stroll down Main Street and go on a lot of attractions and they will not have the Share A Dream Come True parade that day. We've been several times so all that wasn't so important to us. It depends on what you want, it will be crowded and hectic but it is somewhat exciting.
