xmas parade taping--ever been?

we are going down nov 30th thru dec 6th. planning on visiting mk on fri the
5th but just found out they will be taping the parade--should we still go? we will be going to mvmcp on tues the 2nd but wanted another day to enjoy the park--how much of an inconvience will it be?

Crowds around Main St. and the hub will be insane for parade taping. For everyone else, they'll be routing you around to Tomorrowland.

Some have reported that other parts of MK aren't bad during taping, but when the taping is finished (generally mid-afternoon) the crowds start flooding out into the rest of the park.

We went during a taping without realizing it a few years ago and it was nuts. It took us about 40 minutes just to get from the entrance to Fantasy Land, and then we waited almost an hour just to get french fries. We didn't bother going any further and finally gave up and made our way out and over to Epcot.

We, unfortunately, landed in MK on parade taping day in 2005 and it was a mad house. As pp stated, getting down mainstreet was like trying to swim upstream. I found the rest of the park pretty busy too. We ended up hopping to Epcot to get away from the chaos.

Thanks for the warning! I think we'll avoid that park that day and watch it on TV Christmas Day instead!
