Xmas / New Year Sales

Hello everyone! We are travelling from Australia and staying over Xmas and New Year. I was wondering if anyone could tell me about the types of sales that happen in US shops over this holiday period. Do they only happen on certain days? Is there a particular day that's is better than others? Any to avoid? We are planning on heading to the outlets and the Florida Mall if that helps at all? THe after Christmas is usually one big one- but malls will also be VERY busy with everyone coming to return things or spend gift cards. Good time to buy things like Christmas shaped cookie cutters, wrapping and decorations, and gift items (and a lot of the time things like sweaters and hoodies start to go on sale this time too) I’ve also gotten boots on a good sale the day after Christmas!

Definitely! You'll actually get even better prices by waiting until after the new year. The downside of course being that the selection will be more picked over. I love to shop after the new year because that's when stores have gotten all of their returns and started marking things down significantly to make room for spring collections.

Excellent, that sounds like my kind of shopping. Especially as we will be coming from summer and heading into Autumn, so long sleeved tops and pants will be just what we are looking for. Normally we just shop in full price, but will be great to get a few bargains. We normally hit JC Penney and Old Navy first, and are usually pretty successful in those shops.

Hm I’m not sure about sketchers. It’s been a couple of years since I’ve bought their shoes. You may have good luck at one of their outlet stores if you can find one in an outlet mall!

Thanks. We usually head to what was Belz outlet and I know they have a store there. I also know that there general outlet prices are cheaper than our Australian Sketchers stores.

I don't know if you can get them, but before you come can you bring up ads for store ads? You could always see if the stores papers may have the bargains you are looking for as well. Or if you can't get them there as soon as you get here you can look at the ads on line for the ads here. Just keep a list of the recommended stores and look them up.

I have an app called flipp it brings up ads to show what is on sale as well. I has grocery stores and just plain store ads like J.C. Pennys and alike as well.

I get the Old Navy and JC Penney (now they ship to Oz) emails anyway, but will look into the app once there. We were trying to plan in our shopping days as FP+ will be opening up soon and want to be ready for that!
