We plan to be at Disney on christmas day. What are some special things we can do on the 25th? We won't be bring gifts, but might want to get one or two so the kids don't think Santa forgot about them. Also, can we get a small tree delivered to our room? Anyone hang up lights, etc and go all out? We really want to try to bring some xmas spirit with us, but without packing it all in the suitcase.

What resort will you be staying at? You can order a Christmas tree through the WDW Florists & have it delivered to your resort room. They have two different sizes available typically. Here is a link to their site, though they may not show them on there this time of year: http://www.disneyflorist.com/

Hopefully we are at the BCV. I'll know for sure on thursday :wizard:

Last year I did the tree swap through these boards. It worked out great. It was a small tree with lights. We brought a couple of small gifts from home and then bought a couple of small things. You can put up window clings to decorate.

When we went for xmas in '99, I bought a couple of gifts for my 3 kids at DTD on my own and hid them in the room until xmas morning. I also packed their stockings and a few small things and we hung them up xmas eve - I put everything out while they were sleeping (or Santa did!). Best xmas morning ever to wake up in WDW! Have a great holiday!

you can also go to www.harryanddavid.com and order a tree from there. They're like $50, but they're real and come fully decorated. This is what we did last Christmas.

When are you arriving for xmas? Two years ago we arrived on xmas morning, so we had Santa Xmas eve morning instead. We hadn't told them they were going to WDW, so on Xmas Day (our flight left really early) we woke them up and I told them that they must have missed a present under the tree. They opened it up and had Mickey Mouses with their park hopper tickets tied around his neck. They kinda looked at me confused and I said..."Pack your stuff we're going to Disney World...RIGHT NOW!" They freaked out!!!

Indeed they will. When you order, they will ask you for a date of delivery. They guarantee delivery either that day, or the day prior (sent via FedEx/UPS). The resort will hold it for you until you check in. That's exactly what we did at BWV.

Thats awesome...I'll have to compare the price of that vs. disney floral dept. Anyone know the price of the Disney trees?

We've been to WDW twice over Christmas. I packed one large suitcase with decorations, lights, stockings, couple of presents, and had a 6ft slim tree in the original box. All made it thru the airport, Magical Express and to the room and back home in great shape. Ready for a 3rd trip!:)

We were in Disney for Christmas last year. It was wonderful! About 1 1/2 or 2 weeks before we left I shipped a box to our hotel via UPS. It had a small tree, lights, little ornaments, small gifts that I wrapped at home and some snacks for the room. My kids bought new Disney stockings and Santa came Christmas Eve night and put the small gifts in the stockings. They loved it. When we got home there were a few things waiting under the tree from Santa. It was the best Christmas!

We've spent many Christmases at WDW. We either bring an artificial tree or my family, who live in South Florida, will bring up a small real tree. We always decorate the rooms with lights and presents, and play Christmas music, etc.

You will find that people will decorate the outside of their doors with Christmas stockings, and hangings. This past Christmas, someone in one room a couple of doors down from us wrapped their hotel door with wrapping paper and a big bow and ribbon so it looked like a giant present! It was very cute.

I love spending Christmas at WDW. :santa:

Hmm...another great idea. I can ship back and forth easily so I don't have to carry my tree thru the airport.

Anyone have special gifts they give at Disney? Fastpasses...lol....

Wow what great ideas! We plan on bringing a small artificial tree with some lights and ornaments and decorating the door is a cute idea too.
On "Holidays at WDW" I saw on tv, I saw cute gingerbread houses you can buy at GF and that too would be a nice X-Mas touch to add to room.

I also would be interested in any special gifts you can buy at Disney.

We were at WL from 12/22 to 12/31 this past year. The Disney Florist trees are REALLY expensive-if I remember correctly, like $400???? I was already spluging on a WL room at holiday season rates-a $400 christmas tree just didn't seem worth it to me.:rotfl:

I bought a $29.99 pre-lit 4.5' tree with it's own stand at Wal-Mart. It folded up like an umbrella, the box was not a bad size at all, I shoved some decos for the tree in the box and re-taped it. It was very lightweight. I originally planned on sending it UPS, but I ended up just checking it as a peice of baggage with the airline-no problem at all. When we arrived at the airport we did curb side check in...when we arrived at MCO we did Magical Express, all our luggage, including our tree box appeared in our room a few hours after we arrived. When we left, I simply re-packed the tree and decos-re-taped it(I packed a roll of packing tape in the box). Bell services brought our luggage down, we did the airline check in at WL and picked up the box when we returned to our home airport. No lugging a box though the airport-very easy, no problem at all.

I packed two extra strings of lights and wound them around our balcony railing. I bought these small 3M hooks to put on the wall to hang stockings that I bought at the dollar store and wrote our names on them with glitter glue. The hooks come right off w/o damage to the wall(they are designed to do this)and I took them off before we left.

Every night we turned our lights on-it was a great night-light and the tree and the decos just made us feel like our room was "home" over Christmas. I think it was my favorite Christmas ever!:goodvibes

Now, I'm all set the box is all packed and ready to go for another Christmas trip to WDW:santa: ...I just have to convince DH to spend the $$$ and go at Christmas again!:rolleyes1

Presents-I hit DTD the first night while DS and DH had room service grilled cheese, decorated the tree, and went to bed. I got a big bag full of smallish items that wouldn't be a problem to pack on the way home. I had packed some wrapping paper that was folded (not on a roll) from Christmas tree shops, a roll of tape and a pair of child's sissors. The next day the guys went to the pool, I quick wrapped the gifts. I hid them in the closet, DS was way too interested in other things to pay attention to a big bag up on the top of the closet. Santa came on Christmas Eve in the middle of the night-ds was so wiped out from the day-he never moved at all!

Thanks for the great post IMDORY.

I think I'll just mail a box of decorations to my brother in Tampa or make him buy them for me ;-)

We are visiting them for two days before we goto Disney.

Can't wait!!

I think the kids will get some plushes for xmas...mickey..etc...under the tree. Maybe some mickey gift cards too....

Christmas is a wonderful time to be at WDW. So many things to do as well.

1. Make sure you make your ADRs for xmas day and xmas eve far in advanc. If you wait your choices will be extremely limited, think CS only.

2. Dont miss the Candlelight Processional at EC. Truly the best show at WDW. They tell the first xmas story with every carol you can think of. A full choir and orchestra perform with a celebrity reader. We have seen Sandy Patty, Robert Uhrich, David Ogden Stiers, Neil Armstrong, Felicia Rashad. Lines do form as early as an hour or two before each performance. I would recommend the dinner pkgs with reserved seating.

3. The tree lighting at MK. Each day at 5pm there is a flag ceromony and tree lighting in town square.

4. On xmas morning Santa will visit all the resort lobbies.

5. WDW xmas tour. You visit several of the parks plus get a behind the scents tour of the xmas warehouse. Excellent tour, reserve early.

6. Tour the resorts. Guest often bring lights and decorate windows and balconies. Spend one night in FW go over for the campfire or hayride and then walk around the loops. The guest at this resort go all out. Lights, music and even some animitronic figures decorate sites throughout the resort. Each evening at GF the castmembers sing carols and the band and pianoist play throughout the evening in the lobby.

7. Be prepared for crowds. The parks often fill to capacity in the morning. So go really early or very late.

See you there

See you there

1. I'm on it :-) I'll be booking asap!

2. Do you think its worth doing the CP dining package? Will kids 8, 7 and 2 enjoy it?

3. Hopefully we will see it...do they do it after christmas day?

4. Cool

5. Can young kids do this tour?

6. We are trying to decide which day to do this...maybe even christmas day.

7. We are ready :-) We usually go in Jan, so it will be a shocker for us, but since we are vets we should be just fine...

TIA
