XM Radio....

We looked into it, comparing it up against subscription music services like Rhapsody and Zune Marketplace, and decided that we preferred the latter. We don't need someone to try to guess what we want to listen to and what we don't want to listen to. With the subscription services, and a compatible MP3 player, we can peruse practically the entirety of what's out there to listen to, choose what we want, and carry it with us wherever we go, plugging it into our cars if we wish, etc.

We have Sirius and love it. See if you can try it out for a month and how you like it.

it is great if you travel alot in a car. The talk shows are not lost when you get 20 minutes out of a big city. If you listen to sports and the radio you will never miss a game. I can record up to six hours at a time on my sirius stiletto.

so if we are visiting family and the bears game is on, I can "tape" it and listen on the three hour drive home. I do the same thing with a weekly talk show that is on while I am at work. then I listen on the commute.

I can record and save about 20 of those 6 hours shows.

Oh, and sirius licensed their music correctly (not sure if XM has straightened that out since the merger)

any song that is playing, that I want to save, I jsut hit the save button and it is stored on the device.

I enjoy classical music, show tunes, and 50's and 60's music. I can get all of them no matter where I am. I think it is very worthwhile in my car. And also, when I am travelling, I can get the music on my laptop.

My DW has it on her car and just loves it. Some stations do have commercials, and you lose the signal when you go into a tunnel or garage.

We have it as we purchased for 3 years when my 3 month subscription was up on my car. Radio Disney is on frequently when my kids are in the car. I also listen to the 80's station alot.

I had a subscription for years. I travel for my job and loved to listen to all the different channels. Once they merged, my favorite channels went away and I cancelled. I have been doing audio books and enjoy that now and its much cheaper.

I would try it for a month and see what you think.

:headache: Much like powellrj, I enjoyed XM prior to the channels being changed by the merger. Dropped XM from one car, and will drop the other when the subscription comes up for renewal. Plus, I'm not driving nearly as much as I was before the gas prices went through the roof.

For me, it's absolutely essential. I'd give up every other indulgence before my XM. It's not just music, but sports, talk, etc. But for other folks, not so much.

I assume you got a free trial period with the car. See how much you like it during that period.

I love my satellite radio. I bought the lifetime subscription on both DH and my radios when it was available and I'm so glad I did.

I love my XM. We listen to it all the time in the car, and I have it on as background noise any time I'm home unless I have the television on. As another poster mentioned, it is great to use if you travel much because you never have to worry about searching for new stations.

We also listen to SEC Football and Basketball games on XM when they aren't on television in our area or when we are on the road.

I especially love the 40's, 80's, and Cinemagic channels. I do end up rediscovering lots of songs that I used to really like and discovering ones that I somehow missed but really like now by listening to XM, and I am slowly but surely downloading many of them. (I ramped that up when Satellite Radio started having financial issues - that way I will still have all my favorite songs if they ever go out of business! I do hope that won't be an issue any time soon, though!)

I love it when I'm traveling because I do not have to switch the radio station when it goes out of range. If you travel a lot like we do, then yes it's worth it. If not, then no.
