XM radio...who has it?

go with sirius. I love the quality, no comercials for music. Nfl & , of course, Stern. They are getting NASCAR if you are into that. I cannot isten to "terrestrial" radio anymore after having all of the choices on sirius.

I believe Sirius has NHL & NBA, as well.

all well and good, but no MLB. "Baseball is life, the rest is just details."

That is the only downside...but the way the companies are progressing, I fully expect sirius to make a run at it for the next contract. I love listening to baseball games on the rouad, but XM can't come close to offering the programming sirius does.

It depends what you are into... the only thing I would like from sirius is Radio Margaritaville. But I could not switch to a service that doesnt have Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez.

As most people have been saying, I absolutely love XM Radio. It's definitely worth it for $12.95, as I seem to be driving everywhere. So I would highly recommend satellite radio. However, you should look at the channels and see what you like. I can tell you there are two XM commercial channels Kiss 21 and Mix 22 because they are partially owned (I believe) by Clear Channel, but it is only one or two :30 spots per hour. XM does have free internet access to all their music stations.

Although, if Sirius ever got the MLB contract you could find me at my Toyota dealership getting them to switch my satellite tuner.

I got XM free with my GM car two years ago and took the two-year subscription after my trial was up. I love it, I don't listen to anything else. Since we use my car for road trips, we especially appreciate the variety, good reception and traffic/weather channels.

We purchased a XM radio for my husband who travels constantly. He absoloutely loves it ($12.95 per month).

I see this thread was bumped up, so I'll add a little more...

I recently bought a new car with a 3-month sub to XM. I have now REALLY had a chance to compare XM and Sirius. To me, Sirius is the better product (though DH really WISHES Sirius had MLB, hopefully next contract run). While XM has a larger playlist, I do not like the programming. Sirius seems to program a better flow of songs. I really gave XM a chance becasue if we really did like it, I probably would have renewed to have more listening options and to keep baseball for DH. It just isn't worth it to me. Again, for us Sirius is the better option, but other people seem to really like XM. It makes me wonder though, if the XM people tried Sirius would those feelings change?

We've tried Sirius. We don't like it. So no, our feelings wouldn't change. It IS ok for people to like XM over Sirius.

I know it is OK. It was just an observation on my part after really comparing the two services. No eye-rolling needed. ;)

I have a free three month subscription to XM and will NOT be renewing it. The sound quality is terrible--so compressed, it sounds like it's stuffed into a box of cotton. I like my sound crisp and clear, not muffled and compressed.

I have a great sound system in my car, and it's wasted on the goop that XM passes for music.

This sounds more like an issue with your antenna and the location of it than it does the actual XM...because everything we hear comes in perfectly clear. The only times it doesn't come in clear for us are when we're in areas where it can't pick up the frequency that well.

I love the name "Fly me with Balloons". Could this be a reference to Eric the Midget? I have Sirius and love it. I feel "XM" will eventually go out of business. They curently have more subscribers but Sirius is outperforming them more and more each month since they got Howard Stern. Which ever you decide to go with, it is a good value at $13 a month.

The antenna is located on the trunk. There's nothing wrong with it. I've spoken to several other people who have the same opinion. It has to do with the way the data is compressed for uplink and then retrieved on the downlink.

To the average person the sound quality might be perfectly acceptable. To an audiophile it's terrible.

I do know what you mean about the sound. I have XM in my new Honda and LOVE it!!! But it's built in.

In DH's truck, he has it playing through the transmitter - has a Delphi Roadie and there is a definite lack of sound quality, like you said, it's muffed but if I didn't have my car to compare it to, I don't know if I would notice...

Otherwise, we enjoy the XM and (as mentioed above) have the Roadie so we can listen to it at home as well when DH it's driving.

Mine is built in as well. It's factory installed. I didn't want it, they installed it by accident. I refused to pay for it because it was their mistake. I've got the free three months, but I'm certainly not going to start paying for it. Besindes, I like the music they play on my local stations a lot better.

I believe XM has baseball tied up for 7 years.

I dodnt mean to start a Holy War over this - its very much like the PC vs. MAC debate. If one enjoys what they have, thats all that matters.

Howard Stern interviewed a convicted, self-admitted pedophile on one of his late night shows. This infuriated my husband who prefers XM radio, he says as long as Sirus carries HS he won't use them. Can't say that I care for HS either. He disgusts me. I am amazed at the folks that find that type of thing entertaining. When it comes to preference: One mans ceiling is another mans floor.

He has hit #1 in every market he has been. And through different mediums, radio, tv, movies and books. Many many people like his product. My point is only that He brings financial stability to Sirius. XM seems to be having trouble. Improper licensing and no major talent that can bring millions of subscriptions other than sports.

With most cars it is possible to simply change a module to convert from XM to Sirius.

howard Stern hasnt exactly brought financial stability to Sirius. They have to shell out $100,000,000 a year for him for 5 years to keep him happy. Sirius stock has been on a downward trend too.
