I paid the $35 (including tax and fees) 6 months ago for a subscription.

It expires tomorrow.

I sent in a check and didn't give them a CC number.

Will it automatically shut off or will they just send me a bill? I *think* part of the lower price deal with auto sign up.

I want to cancel and then re-subscribe to avoid the higher charges. Do I need to call them today to cancel?

Thanks,

Dawn

Just call today and say you wish to "Cancel". Tell them it is just too expensive. At that point they will undoubtedly offer you another 6 months at deep discount or a deep discount 12 month deal.

NEVER give Sirius XM your charge card info!! Also, tell them that you do not wish to pay a billing fee .... that you want them to waive the $2-3 fee for billing you in another way then your charge card.

Yes, I play this game every 5-6 months. I pretty much do exactly as above. They did give me a great 12 month deal the last time so I took that so I didn't have to worry about it for a while. They usually give me $25/5 months but that time they did $58 for the year and I took that one.

This last renewal my DH made his usual cakk and apparently got the one person who would not budge on giving him a deal - so he cancelled. I then introduced him to Pandora since he finally got a smart phone so he's been using that for free - with only an occasional commercial. Low and behold, I got my letter from XMSirus this week looking for me to come back for $25 for 6 months and no reconnection fee(which they 'threatened' my DH with back on his phone call). Sorry, XM Sirus, we're not playing that game anymore! We're happy with the free radio we get on our smartphones and now have it thru the blue tooth in the cars.

I was just going to post that I have been playing the game for years but last time I called they didn't offer a decent deal. I ended up canceling and just go that offer in the mail... I'm picking it up because I really really really miss the live traffic navigation (it's like an extra $3 a month but worth it for me as I drive in the cities often)

Did you call? Did they give you a deal?

Thanks.

I did call. I didn't get a $58/year fee, but I was offered a $79. I did take it.

I just called on Dec 10 because our last deal expires this week. I told the first person I talked to that I wanted to cancel - the offered a package over $100. Told the second person I wanted to cancel & they offered a package of about $89. Told they final person that I wanted to cancel and ended up with a total 6 month price (including all taxes) of $26.88 for 6 months. WINNER!!

Marked it on my calendar to call again in June 2015.

I play the same game every 5 months. I have it noted on my calendar to call on December 24 to say I will not pay more than the $5 a month I am currently paying. If they can't give me that, then I cancel. It's not worth more than that.

$5 a month was my limit, but I know that royalty fees just went up, so I cut them some slack - less that $2 over.

Hmmm...this is sounding reasonable. I cancelled mine about 5 years ago. Any chance I will get a deal? Even though I have learned to live without it, I miss the comedy channels.:joker:

Never hurts to call and check. As my Dear Husband says, what's the worse thing they can say?

One way to handle this is to call SiriusXM and tell them you are considering starting up their service once again, IF and only if, they give you a decent subscription price. Now, accept their best offer. (be sure NEVER to give SiriusXM your charge card number) Tell them to bill you and that you want them to waive the $2-3 dollar billing fee that they want if you do not use a charge card. Don't pay the bill until after you do as I now suggest ...> Start enjoying the SiriusXM service and in about a week, call back and tell them you wish to CANCEL and that your spouse says it is to expensive. My guess is they will offer you another new pricing offer//a better price then originally, to get you not to cancel. After you get this offer and accept you will get an updated bill which you pay..

Note: If first offer you got is decent and you are happy with it don't bother to call back..

I don't know how you guys do it. Every time I ask for a year long deal they swear they don't have that offer now. Today I called and I chatted online...sorry ,no deal. I told,them..then no customer. I give up. They have the WORST customer service ever.i give up.

Don't call asking for a deal. Tell them you want to cancel because it's too expensive. They'll try to come up with a way to overcome your objection. They'll start with half price for the year, then half price for six months, and finally $25 for five or six months. You have to get to the cancellation department, and you have to give them a reason for canceling that they can overcome. If you just call asking for a deal, they're not at risk of losing a customer, and they don't have any obstacle to overcome.

But I'm not a customer now.......
Even when I was, the only offers I got were 5 months....just can't hack having to call them every 5 or 6 months. My blood pressure can't take it!

I think that is what they are counting on.

Have you received any offers in the mail? Even if you haven't, I would call and just say that you saw an offer for X amount and you would like to know if you can have that. If not, hang up and call back.

They'll offer you half off for one year, but that's still $90. If you want the lowest price, you have to be willing to call more often.

I got the 5 month thing for 20 in the mail. As the previous poster said, you have to be willing to call them every few months. I'm just not willing to beg them for a deal so I can be a customer. I don't understand a company that when someone calls and says they are willing to pay what others have .......says no, we don't have that offer.not worth it to me.
