XL airlines seating question?

Hi all

I need some advice for a firend. He and his wife will be travelling to Orlando in September 08, its their 1st time aboard and travelling on XL airlines. His wife is a bit on the cuddly side (dress size 26/28), and they are wondering if they will be able to put the arm rest up in the cheap seats between them on the flight, so that she will be a bit more comfortable.
I know on some airlines you can lift the armrests, but I'm not sure about XL. If anyone has travel with this airline in the pass or recently can you please give your advice, so that I can pass it on to them.

I flew with XL about 3 years ago and yes you can raise the armrest in between the seats but you cannot raise the armrest on the aisle side if memory serves me

We have just got back from flying with them.

You can raise the middle armrests. The seating is very tight! See attached trip report picture.

Leg room will make no difference if she is not tall. I'm 5'4" and have never had a problem with legroom, even when the person in front reclines - but last time I flew to Florida (with VA) I was a size 22 and the seat width was most uncomfortable. It was better with the middle arm rest raised, but I still couldn't operate the TV controls easily.

I have since lost a lot of weight (size 12 now) so am hoping for a much more comfortable ride next year.

My firends wife is going to join slimming world, so hopefully she can lose a couple of stones before she leaves for Orlando.
