Hi, DD got xbox last Xmas, not been used for a good few months. However today she decided to play as wants new games

Anyway she switched or tried to switch it on, it came up with error code e82 and a solid red light which is usually green.

After ten minutes of switching on and off it decided to boot up.

I have searched the net, it comes up with RROD terminology from the xbox forums. Which means red ring of death. Having 5 days left on warranty plus extended warranty. Starting to think. (which is very unusual for me) :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Has anyone else had this code and what was outcome.

I haven't got an XBox but the Red Ring of death is a common fault with the XBox, more so with the older models then the newer ones. I would claim off the warranty. I think you have to contact Microsoft to get them to sort it.

Thanks, she got it working at minute, but starting think when will it stop working. Hoping they will check it before hand

My two boys had the three rings of death a couple of times as their Xbox was one of the original ones bought the day they came out. I did a thread about this back in October 09 but not sure how to post the link. It was called XBox 360 broken again!!

Basically the first time it happened the warranty had just run out and we had to pay to get it fixed. The money was eventually refunded as it became a huge problem worldwide. The second time we had a different problem and it cost about £80 to fix( I think). Third time it was the three rings again and we were told we would have to pay. After posting on here I got some great advice ( thanks Kev Stringer) and ended up with a new one.

If you go to search and put in Xbox 360 you'll see all threads posted about Xbox 360.

Hope you get it sorted.

Thanks, its the power on light which changes green to red. Hoping it doesn't trigger the the circle lights.

Just been on live chat with xbox, it's a troubleshoot resolve between power supply, hardware issue and something else (memory gone blank). :rotfl2:

Power supply for everything else works fine !!!

I had the 'ring of death' on mine, I got it fixed and sorted with not too much hassle. Id just make them aware of the problem, because its an error with the product. I personally would just keep your eye on it.
