DS (10 next month) wants an Xbox 360 with kinect. I'm hesitant to get this because we already have a wii with about 20 games but he says it's all he really wants! I know nothing about it other than the graphics seems to be a lot better with the Xbox vs the wii? Amazon has a deal, 4 GB console, kinect, controller and two games for $249. Is that good? I don't really understand the 4GB? Why do you need this? Is there a monthly fee for Xbox? Also, I noticed the games for kinect are only $20 (amazon). I thought it would be much more? Any tips, deals, or advice on this? Thank you!

Welcome to the tweens . We had a Wii for a couple years but in all honesty as kids grow the Wii doesn't really grow with them. My son has an Xbox, I have an Xbox and a PlayStation 3 and we could never go back to the Wii. I love Kinect with the Xbox as there's no controller to hold so no controller to go flying . There's a number of kid-friendly games for it and trust me you'll be jumping in to play too. They are that fun.

Make sure that the unit you purchase has enough memory to store your child's saved games. My 13 year old plays several building games, and needs lots of storage space to save everything that he builds.

You pay for Xbox Live if you want your child to be able to connect his Xbox to the internet and be able to play games with his friends. It is actually a great concept - my son can play games with his best friends - with each person at their own house and Xbox unit. If you choose to have Xbox live, you pay a yearly fee.

Check out Target's Black Friday Ad online, they have the XBOX 360 4G with Kinnect and two games (Disney game and Adventure game) for $199 that is a good deal. Kmart also will have it for that price and probably alot of other stores.

You do need to buy a membership. Yearly is the least expensive. You can buy it right on the xbox console with a credit card or buy a membership card anywhere that sells the games.

It's usually $59 for a gold 1 year membership however around black friday you can get amazing deals that come with a membership card or games etc... Check out Black Friday Ads website they have a listing of almost all of the deals that will be avalible. Good luck

The only monthly fee is for an Xbox Live membership. You only need to buy that if he's going to be playing online against other people, or if he wants to use any of the other perks of having that membership (such as an interactive sports channel, the ability to stream Netflix if you are a subscriber, and occasional free DLC). If he doesn't want to play online or use those other things there's no need to buy a membership. Everyone who creates an account automatically gets a free membership that includes access to the Marketplace (so you can buy games and additional DLC) and the ability to track your stats and achievements.

Check out Amazon.com. I bought the Xbox 360 Limited Edition Kinect Star Wars Bundle for $340 for my DD for Christmas. That one has a 320GB Hard Drive and comes with two games - Kinect Adventures and Kinect Star Wars.
