Hi everyone,
well I did my best but my nerves got the best of me at the last minute, very frustrating and have to say I am gutted tonight now I've calmed down. I just know I can sing better.
Having said that it was an interesting day, I'm glad I've seen it all from the inside and there was some very very talented singers there today! I did talk to Dermot who was very sweet to everyone.
As for next year, me and my stagefright need to come to terms with each other, maybe I'll give it a go. But for now, I have been offered a place in a band singing, they are well established and asked me a while ago so finally going to give it a go.
Am going to work on my confidence and see what happens.
To anyone interested, the judges themselves weren't there today. You are put in a booth with a producer and asked to sing a verse or chorus. Some booths were issuing lots of golden tickets and some were stingy let's say. I met 3 girls, all fabulous voices and only 1 got a golden ticket, will be interesting which disasters get through to the judges this year lol

I'm sorry that you didn't achieve what you wanted to, but as I said earlier, I really wouldn't take it as an indication of your actual talent
I've found that confidence in performing only really comes from experience. I don't think anyone is born with it, some people just learn to deal with it quicker than others (annoyingly! I certainly wasn't one of them!). I think it's great that you're going to be playing with other musicians, and I'm sure that you'll gain a lot from it.
Remember though, that nerves are an essential part of performing. If you felt nothing before you sang, then what would be the point of it? The buzz and ability to entertain others all comes through that feeling in your tummy, so just learn to take it as a sign that your body is wanting you to do your best

Aww that is a shame that the nerves kicked in. I find watching the auditions so painful sometimes as you know people can sing its the nerves that get the better of so many people.

Good that your talent will be heard in the band. I so wish I could sing so take my hat off to you for being able to get up and sing.

Sorry to hear that Nerves got the better of you! I can never control mine when it comes to doing things in public - and thats just usually 20 or so people so cant imagine how it would be for 1000's!
