The distance to Disney's main gate is probably less than 5 miles, although I am not good at estimating mileage. We were there during spring break & went to all Disney parks and none took more than 10 mins from condo to being parked in parking lot. We also moved from Wyndham Palms to Hard Rock Hotel at Universal & it took less than 20 mins to drive, park car & be in the lobby checking in at HRH. We were not traveling any of the days earlier than 8:30 AM so the traffic may be a bit heavier if there is a huge rush to make park openings. Seven people should be able to comfortably sleep if you have the same set up we did. There was a king in the MBR & 2 doubles in the 2nd BR. It sounds like with 7, you may need to use the sleeper sofa, which we did not try. The sofa itself was not very comfortable, but the mattress may have been. If you have kids using it, it will probably be fine. The kitchen seemed fairly small, but I did not actually attempt to cook a meal in it. Having a washer & dryer in the unit was wonderful! We were able to take half the clothes we otherwise would have needed. Have a great trip & let me know if any other questions.
