Has anyone stayed here? We have the option of either a 3 bed condo or a 4 bed. house. What do you suggest. I can't find any info on the web--does anyone know of a good source of info?

We will go in Dec. so I don't know if I want to deal with heating the house pool..or if we can just swim in the main pool if it's warm enough. Grandpa wants a WARM place to rest his knees in the evenings.

thank you all for your help

We returned in Feb.from Fla. Stayed in Wyndham
Palms and loved it. It is a beautiful resort.
We stayed in 3 bedroom condo, the unit was
the sapphire. It had a king size bed in each
master and 2 twins in the third bedroom. Large
unit 1400 sq. feet. The resort is great.
Pool, weight room, game room, movie theater and
small store as well as tennis and basketball
courts. We are going back in the fall.
I think that you will be very happy staying there.
It is only 3 1/2 miles from WDW gate.

Where is the site for info on this resort?

A few questions please: what was the pool & spa like in February? We are wondering if they are heated enough to use in the cooler temps? Any fun stuff for kids?
Also, how long did it take to get to the parks? Last time we went 192 was a complete disaster!(thankfully we weren't traveling on it much)

eagerly looking forward to your reply!

Hi "T"- It would probably take about 10-20 min.
to get to WDW depending upon the traffic. The
entrance to WDW highway system is very close--
it's 192 that is the tie up. But in Feb. they
were working on that section of road so hopefully
by the time that you visit it will be finished.
There are video games, pool table, ping pong,
movies, a playground. Plus "B"ball and tennis
courts. The pool and spa were perfect temp.
in Feb. But, the weather was also perfect,
low 80's. :)

We're book here for a week in Sept 2002. Just curious...movies? What kind of movies? Is there a theater here? Is there a charge?

Just got back from Wyndham Palms, and I will definitely return there when I go back. What a deal!!!! We got a 5 bedroom home with 3 1/2 bathrooms for a lot less than the disney resorts.. And, we were just 10 min from the parks. The security is tight, the clubhouse is awesome!!! I'm eventhinking about buying one!!!! If anyone needs any info on these plese post here and let me know.

ncbyrne.......hello again.......we seem to stay at the same places as your family does about 5 months in advance...lol...........we are gonna be at wyndham palms next week.......we will have to give you our scouting report on this place too.......

does anyone know if the pool is in fairly easy walking distance of the 3 bdrm condos? my mother is not able to walk really far......just wondering if it is close or not?

littleducksmom,
This was a concern of mine too. My contact at WP assured me the pool is very close when I told him we would be having an eight-year-old with us. Keep us posted!

littleducksmom,

We were in a 3 bedroom condo there last month in the building closest to the clubhouse, and were no more than about 75 feet to the pool and clubhouse. Even if you're in another building, they're all very close together and you wouldn't be more than a minute's walk. It doesn't have that "congested" feeling with buildings on top of each other, but it isn't spread out either like some resorts we have been to. You will love the place!! Can't wait to go back -by the way, I had great difficulty getting my daughters out of the pool, so I wish you luck with yours! The pool is heated to a lovely, warm temperature (not quite bath water warm but really comfortable) and the hot tub is great.

thanks mousegirl,

all the info you have provided is so wonderful and very timely for our trip.

thanks for the info on the pool. do you remember what the pool hours were? i cant remember, is there a screened in porch for the 3 bdrm condo? if so, do the porches have a view of the pool?

debbie

Sorry for the delay in responding, littleducksmom, I've been out of town (unfortunately it was on business, not at Disney!) for the last few days. I'm afraid I can't remember what the pool hours were, but I know there was someone in the hot tub well after 9:00 p.m. one night when we were walking over to the clubhouse. I don't recall seeing signs posted regarding pool hours, but I may have just missed them. From what I could tell by looking at the buildings, all of the units have screened in porches. Whether or not they have a view of the pool would definitely depend on which building you're in and what direction your unit faces. Our porch faced the parking lot, but units on the other side of the building looked directly onto the pool area and clubhouse. It wasn't a problem though, as we just had to walk through a little breezeway and we were at the pool.

Hey Mousegirl,
Who did you book through and how much was the 3 bedroom?(if that is not a rude question) I am very interested
Thanks
Mr Toad

Mr Toad,

We booked directly through an owner on www.vrbo.com. Wonderful guy, very professional. The 3 bedroom unit cost us $675 for the week (plus tax), and we thought it was a steal. He sent us pictures of the interior of the unit and the property in advance, so we knew exactly what we were getting - I had never rented a property before so that helped put my mind at ease! If you want any more information don't hesitate to ask.
