Hi all,

Newbie alert !!

Has anyone been to the Orlando Wyndham Orlando resort on I-Drive??
What did you think ?
How are the rooms ?
What is the food like ?
Are the pools any good ?
etc etc

I'd also really like info on how easy it is to drive in and out of. It appears to be near a busy junction with Sand Lake Road. Left turns in America always worry me since I once almost drove up the wrong side of a dual-carriageway !!

Hi Pete,
We stayed at the Wyndham last xmas and thought it was a great hotel and location.
The rooms are very comfortable although some of them are a fair distance from the restaurant
I think we had a room in block 7 which was close to the main pool and shop and not too far from the restaurant. The buffet breakfast was excellent, although not cheap $10.95 for the full works or $8.95 for the cold buffet.
Access wasn't really a problem although you are right it is a busy junction most drivers were only too happy to let me in to the traffic. We used the gated entrance/exit near Ripleys which is less busy and is open until dusk, there's also access onto Sandlake road.
If you get chance it's worth visiting www.wyndham.com and joining WyhdhamByRequest as this gets you certain perks even a room upgrade if available!

By the way welcome to the boards!!!!!

If you have any more questions fire away!

Mick.

Thanks Mick. I'll give Wyndham By Request a shot.

About access to the hotel. You imply that the entrance is shut at dusk. How do you get in after that ??

Another question - is there anywhere decent to eat nearby that a fussy 7 year old would be OK in ? She's just about OK with chicken and plain cheese and tomato pizza but runs a mile from anything green or which used to moo :) I know there is a large Macdonalds nearby but I would rather avoid that if at all possible. She might like it but I want to enjoy myself on this holiday.

Hi Pete,
It's just the entry/exit near Ripleys that has a gate and closes at dusk. The main entrance near the Hotel lobby is permenantly open as is, I believe, the Sandlake entrance.
We use Perkins restaurant quite a lot, just across Sandlake,it as a good selection of food and is popular with families.Failing that you shouldn't have much trouble finding somewhere further along I-Drive as there are numerous restuarants offering lots of choice.

There are entrances on both I-Drive and Sand Lake road that are opern 24 hours, it's a great hotel on a good location. IMHO the breakfast is one of the best in Orlando ( including the Disney ones). It has a very nice pool area, the restauramnt in the hotel is pretty good and it has a takeaway Pizza service. The rooms are a good size and generally well maintained, it is a fairly old hotel but has been refurbished. It is unlikely that you'd get any problems with a room BUT if you do get something wrong I'd suggest you certainly don't accept it and get them to change you. It is a big hotel so with the number of rooms there is always the possibility that there are one or two rooms that aren't up to scratch.
