Is there anyone else here who enjoys walking through the Wyland Galleries? I walked through the one in the Poly the first time we stayed there and was mesmerized by all the BEAUTIFUL artwork!

I am especially fond of Walfredo Garcia's paintings like "Divine Creation" ... GOD! I just stood there looking at that paining in awe until a very nice employee came over to me and woke me from my coma! :rotfl:

She asked if I was interested or needed help with anything ... I told her no because there was no way I'd even be able to afford the painting. Even after saying that she still took the paining off the wall ... took it and me into a back viewing room ... hung it on the wall and turned on some small spot lights.:cloud9::littleangel:

OH MY GOD!!! The light hit the painting and it started to glow  ... I've never seen anything like it ... I am by NO means any kind of art connoisseur but I know what I like and this was amazing! I have never understood people's fascination with art or paintings or photography ... I always had that "Yeah, it's a picture of ______ ...so" attitude.:confused3

It's so silly but I really enjoy taking a few minutes whenever we are on vacation just to walk around in there! Am I the only art geek who does this?:3dglasses

Yep, and over on the Boardwalk as well :thumbsup2 We love seeing various buildings he has painted too...not at WDW, but South Beach, Virgingia I think, Chicago...really cool stuff.

I love taking time to walk through as well. Years ago I dragged my kids through it and they rolled their eyes, and now they ASK to walk through it!

The artwork is beautiful!:artist:

:thumbsup2love to any time we can. I love his work!

Yes, at WDW and in Hawaii. I think you would have to have a unique house for the art work to fit but I love it. Love the sculptures too.

I love his work. He has a whale tail that I would love to have. I keep getting emails when he will be in carmel. I just never make it there. Jo

This is where we saw (Boardwalk) the Tim Cotterill frogs for the first time. DH started a collection and he usually gets one for special occasions. I'm trying to make up my mind on another one for Christmas...:scratchin

We collect these frogs too. Only the big ones though. There's a new red one, I think it's called "Orchid" that I'm considering.

So here is a cool story about Wyland and the way the world works (weel at least I thought it was cool! :rotfl: )

20 plus years ago, I was on the island of Oahu and went to Sea Life Park. Had a great day and as we were leaving, there was a man in a kiosk signing posters. It was Wyland himself signing posters of his artwork. I bought a beautiful one of dolphin posters and he signed and dated it. I actually had it mounted and framed and it hangs in our powder room.

Fast forward to Nov 2008, we were in WDW and Wyland was going to be at the gallery in Boardwalk where we were staying. We were coming back late after a long day at the parks and he happened to be in the gallery doing this:

So we waited around and DD got to meet him. She loves the poster so it was really neat for her to meet the artist.

Kind of cool that it was almost 20 years to the day that he signed the poster for me that we met him again!

I'm so jealous!! We fell in love with those frogs many years ago when we first saw them. Still haven't plunked the money down for one yet.
I did decide to have each of my 4 boys to pick out their favorite frog design and that's what I'm going to tattoo around my ankle. :thumbsup2
