No, it isn't a post for my job. The posted postion and mine are totally different. The listing is from 1 week ago so no it isn't old.
And I've already said 3 times why I'm posting about it...I'm curious to know what others would do. this is a situation that in my 20+ years of employment I have never run across so I thought I'd see what others would do in this position.

Heck no... you never know what could come back and bite you in the butt. Unless this person was family or one of my best friends, I wouldn't touch the situation with a ten foot pole.

If they are advertising for her job, then they know she wants to leave. If you stick your nose in, they might think you want to leave too.

I rarely start posts here but this is bugging me.....let's say you have a job and you know your co-worker is not happy there, you know this co-worker has interviewed with another company recently and this co-worker would really like to leave this position. Say you also found out that there is a job posting on a job website for the same position this unhappy co-worker currently holds. Would you tell this co-worker about this job listing? Would you ask your corporate co-workers about it? (we have multiple locations, we are not near our corporate hq) or would you just let it go? I'm curious to see what others will have to say but I have to be honest and say I'm not online over the weekends very often so if I don't post again I haven't disappeared.

When it comes to stuff like this, you keep your mouth shut.

Given that it's on Career Builder, it's public information. The company is taking the huge chance that the employee will see her job listed. Unless they're total idiots, they must know that and not care that she would find the listing. For all we know, maybe they're hoping she sees it and gets out before they have to fire her and pay unemployment.

I'd probably tell her with a wink that if she's looking for a job, she might want to check Career Builder.

I've seen my job listed on monster.com once when I worked for a national chain. I tend to ask some things before thinking and it just so happened my district manager was in my store the next day. So when he was in the office with my manager I asked them if they were looking for a new asm because it was posted, and until that point I had done eveything plus more that was expected of me. His response? "Why were you on monster.com?" I quickly dropped that subject

How do you know that they aren't hiring a 2nd person for that job..meaning not replacing her but adding another job? You also mentioned that there is more than one location..is it possible the position was mistakenly listed as X location when it was really for Y location especially if the locations are in the same city/state?

I am not sure how you would know anything about why it was posted with enough certainty to tell your co worker anything without coming off as a pot stirrer and troublemaker by doing so. Maybe the co worker already gave notice and hasn't shared it yet, maybe they agreed to stick it out until they found a replacement and train them (in my level of a position having at least 30 days to allow for hiring and time for a worker to transition to the new one wasn't unheard of)..there are too many unknowns on your part IMO to say a word without damaging yourself.

They previously listed positions with the company on Craig's List. And this person does have his resume posted on CB so yes, I assume he will see it himself. I wondered if they were hoping he would quit as well but I really don't think he will......

LOL I would have simply said I hadn't removed my resume from before and that would be the absolute truth. lol Did they answer your question? lol

They are not hiring another person for our facilities. We have 2 buildings, they are less than 1 mile apart and we are working on getting them in 1 building. As I've said previously we have 3 permanent employees, all others are temps. They are not adding another manager position, I'm confident in that. My boss keeps me very up to date on this stuff and he would tell me if we were hiring someone else. And no, they didn't mistakenly list our location instead of another one. Our company only has two location in CA, ours (with 2 buildings) and another one in So Cal.
Again, no notice has been given, I know that he would tell me if he had given notice. And again, i have not said I'm telling anyone....for the 4th time I just wanted to see what other people would do....lol

LOL No, but I just found that out yesterday.......LOL And if he had given notice he would have told me yesterday.
