I rarely start posts here but this is bugging me.....let's say you have a job and you know your co-worker is not happy there, you know this co-worker has interviewed with another company recently and this co-worker would really like to leave this position. Say you also found out that there is a job posting on a job website for the same position this unhappy co-worker currently holds. Would you tell this co-worker about this job listing? Would you ask your corporate co-workers about it? (we have multiple locations, we are not near our corporate hq) or would you just let it go? I'm curious to see what others will have to say but I have to be honest and say I'm not online over the weekends very often so if I don't post again I haven't disappeared. :)

I don't see any value in getting involved. Is this co-worker a good friend of yours? If so, then "maybe" I'd help with a nod towards this job posting. Otherwise, not your issue.:confused3

Honestly, that person would have to be my husband, sibling or parent before I would tell them about another job opening. When it comes to your job, keep your mouth shut and just do your job. I have had far too many co-workers learn that the hard way, and be shown the way out.

She sez she's curious. ;)

We are friendly because our office is tiny.....I guess I just wonder if they will do this to this person why won't they do it to me?

I am curious....I'd love to know what others might do in this situation. I didn't say I was going to get involved, I just want to know what others would do. :)

I'm confused - is where you are currently working advertising to replace her?

Maybe they know the co-worker has been looking around and are covering their butts.
If co-worker is looking around there is a chance the co-worker will see the same ad.
Personally, I keep my job very professional and no, I would not tell them. Not my business.

I mind my own business unless its a friend then I would help him out

So are you saying you feel this is the unhappy co workers exact position posted on the company website as an open position?

Yeah, I don't know if I'd tell her. They may not want to replace her, but just anticipating if she does leave. . .CYA so to speak. :confused3

If I understand correctly:

Betty is unhappy at work and has been looking for a new job
OP, who works with Betty, has seen Betty's current job (where they work together) posted as if the company is trying to replace Betty.

Should OP tell Betty that her current job has been posted.

If I were friendly with Betty, yes I would tell her.

If the co-worker was a good friend of mine (and I mean real friend as in you know their family, you hang out outside of work, you knew them before you worked together) and I could trust that they would blab that I told them yes.

Outside of that rare scenario I'd not mention it to a soul.

Watch out now, maybe they will. :rotfl:

:rotfl: ya, that's what I was sort of thinking....:rotfl:

yes

So are you saying you feel this is the unhappy co workers exact position posted on the company website as an open position?

yes it is the exact position that this co-worker currently holds. Not on the company website tho, on Career Builder. I have my resume posted on CB as well (I've only had this position for 4 months so I just never took my resume down) and get notices and I saw this posted. checked it out because it's my company name and I was curious.

Hopefully the job is for a translator as I didn't understand the post

:confused3 plenty of others have responded so not sure why you don't understand.......and it's clearly posted in English so no tranlation needed. :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

yes this is basically it. :) Thanks

Maybe this coworker already gave a 2 week notice and didn't tell you?

No, this is not the case. I know this 100% as this person did tell me they interviewed with another company and I am confident they would tell me if they had given their 2 weeks notice. :)

I wouldn't say good friend but our branch of the company is very small. It's a national company but our branch only has 7 employees, 3 of us are full-time company employees, the other 4 are temps. So in reality we are all very close simply because of our work environment. I'm sorry if i'm being too vague, I'm just not sure who else at our company might post here. :) There are other Disney lovers out there. :)

Oh and I already know what I'm going to do....I was just curious as to what others would do. :)

Thanks!
