We are unfortunately not DVC members, so we set up with someone to rent points. We have done this before, but the person we rented from did not have points available. So I looked for someone else that was offering the amount of points that we needed.
She and I talked numerous times and finally got everything taken care of. She made the ressie and sent me the email she received from Disney. She advised once she received payment she would forward the envelope she would get in a few weeks. We mailed payment and a week later found out they never received it (it was when tornadoes were happening everywhere and she was in an area close). So we stopped payment and sent another one this time FedEx. She received it and never contacted me to let me know she got it. I emailed her and 2 days later she confirmed she had received it. This was 5/11. After 2 weeks, I still had not received the paper confirmation, so I emailed her. I have since continued to email her every 2 days and I have left 5+ voice mails over the last 2 weeks. I have heard NOTHING! Tonight I emailed her and the message was returned because her mailbox is full.

I don't know what to do next. We need to get the money back, but what steps would you take to get it back? We will be about 4 hours from her home week after next for a wedding. I told my husband we should show up at their front door, because they would have to give us some kind of answer.

Please give me your ideas and thoughts for what you would do please!

Have you looked up your reservation here to see if it still exists?

Losing communication with the owner is uncomfortable but having the paper confirmation really doesn't give you anything. If they were in the area affected by the tornados that might still be causing problems for them. It sounds like you were comfortable with them and things went as expected until that event .

I agree that the lack of a paper confirmation wouldn't bother me all that much either. In fact, DVC will not send a paper one anymore unless you ask them to. Most confirmations are email only. Check with the web page the previous poster listed, and if your reservation is there, you will know. Hopefully your name was put on the reservation when she received payment.

I am so sorry.

Agree with PP
The reservation link will tell you if it is likely a valid rsvp still. If it is there (talking to her or not), you are fine. If it is not I am not sure I could/would drive 4 hours to find out someone isn't home. If they were malicious in there intent to defraud you, they would probably not even have the $$ to give you. Even if they did, it is doubtful they would give to you for showing up at their door.

(And mine do not get mailed any more either I ask for email confirm and save trees. This again on its own is not a show stopper.)

The lack of communication would for sure kill me. It is possible she needed to move out of her home, with the weather there were alot of people displaced, but the RSVP # would still be active. I have (Thank the Lord), always had good luck renting. I have always done it through disboards too. Did you did it through disboards? If so a moderator maybe able to assist, as well. They will probably read this, and maybe can try emailing, or contacting for you.

:grouphug: My heart goes out, I hope it works out for you and your family.

The problem that we are having is that we wanted to change the ressie to another resort. The 7 month mark was the 7th and she stated previously that she would call and change it for us. We haven't talked to her and don't know if she has done this or willing to do this any more. We will not be able to fit in the location she booked since it only holds 8 and we are 9 plus infant.

Why would you have someone book something for you in which you don't fit? There's never a guarantee of being able to switch at 7 months, so that is a large risk you are taking, since many DVC rental reservations are not refundable.

If she received an email confirmation, there would be no mailed confirmation. If you're in the system with a reservation under your name, as shown when you go into the link on the email she forwarded, I would say you're good to go.

It's very possible, with it being so close to Labor Day weekend, that they're on vacation themselves and not able to check their email. Two weeks without a reply may be explainable. Don't panic yet.

You are looking to change at NYE at seven months? I don't think that is going to happen anyway. You'd better get another room for the guests who don't fit in your villa if you do still have the reservation. Did you not list everyone staying with you on the reservation? That's a requirement.

Just a note here that rental transactions are private between the renter and the owner. Neither DVC nor the DIS moderators will get involved in any disputes or issues between the two. To anyone considering renting, we also refer them to read the sticky posts on the DVC Rent/Trade Board.

I would recommend perhaps making a backup reservation with CRO just in case. You mention stopping payment on the first check, did you do that for the second check too?

Good luck to you..

We didn't want to, but she said that we should be able to switch at the 7 month and not to worry with it.

I listed everyone when I sent her the email. The reservation she emailed me showed everyone on the ressie.

We were not wanting to change to NYE, we needed AKV or BLT. We were booked at OKW.

I know the transactions are between the individual people and that the board will not get involved. We stopped payment on the first, but the second we are not able to because it has been cashed.

What is CRO?

thanks!

So if you aren't going for New Years Eve, you appear to be going for the Marathon. That also will be difficult. BLT will be next to impossible. OKW does sleep nine plus one under the age of three in a two bedroom villa. BLT will be a lot more to reserve and you will owe her more money. If you are attempting to get the AKV Savanna view, it also will require more money to reserve if you can get it.

So did you use the link that KAT4DISNEY provided (quoted above) to see if you have a reservation? You must select the resort from the dropdown list so try each one (OKW, AKV, BLT) along with the confirmation number you have and see if you can pull up your reservation.

OKW sleeps the same number of people as BLT and AKV since they added the sleeper chair during the recent renovations so at least you are ok as long as the reservation is there and if nothing could be switched.

We are going Jan 7-14th. We are not going for the marathon, but will be there at the same time. We were able to get another person June 8th to secure a ressie for my sister. It is a 2bd at BLT, so it would not have been too impossible to switch.

Yes, not being able to switch will create a problem, but what mybiggest concern is: she has not contacted us back in 2 weeks. The last time I heard from her was 5/11 and that was to confirm she received payment and she would contact us on the 7th.

I have used the link, but it is not showing anything for the information I had given her. I have an email with the attachment from DVC back in april, but that is it to show anything in our name.

I'd be freaking out too! :scared1: But that's my personality. Does your bank offer any fraud protection?
