Wwyd?

YEP!

Here's the other thing about DVC we love, we can always go back next year with another choice! Your children will love every DVC resort. Just do a lot of research on the resort you pick and you will know all the ins and outs. For instance we love SSR if we stay in the Grandstand section because we love the quiet pool over there versus the main pool. But we didn't know that without giving it a try. Will I go back to SSR soon, yes, but not yet because we want to try them all!

Before we went we said "don't want BLT and AKV or VWL are too dark for my taste". We wanted to buy BCV. But after our trip we pleasantly discovered that are favorites were actually AKV, BLT and VWL. BCV is lovely and we really did like it, but for us things like food court and being in one building was important to us. We ended up with BLT because the MF were low, we got the great new incentive and it was easy, easy, easy to buy through Disney. Plus we got to put the purchase on our Disney card and get 170 bucks towards our next trip!

Lots of things to consider. I would say that maybe stay at one of the DVC resorts before you buy. You can rent, or you can book directly through Disney. This was helpful to us so that we could get a good feel of not having mousekeeping and such.

Wow - your family could be mine! Had I followed Buy Where You want to stay I would have been disappointed because I thought I would LOVE BWV and honestly while I am okay with BWV and BCV I found that they did not meet our needs like others.

We are definite counter service people - definitely for breakfast and for other times as well, so for us SSR, BLT and AKV are best but honestly eash resort has its own charm so I am happy to switch it up.

I do have BLT specifically for MK view - there is NO WAY you are going to get that ever if you do not own within a year or two so if someone HAS to have MK View then you need to own there - probably the same with BWV standard or AKV Conceirge.

Honestly I feel bad for people who are stuck using one resort only - they all are unique and have positives and negatives. :-)

From your vacation ticker, I assume that you fly to WDW. Now, I don't know if you normally rent a car or not. For us, one of the selling points of BLT was the transportaion factor. With my daughter, buses are OK, but I prefer boats and monorail. Now, I know BCV and BWV offer great access to Epcot and DHS, but I really did not like the buses to BCV when we stayed their in Jan. Buses to MK were not bad, but the buses to AK and DTD were shared between BC, YC, BW, Dolphin, and Swan. 5 stops is a bit too many, and it's even worse to/from DTD with the multiple stops there. From BLT you have direct access to all parks, DTD, and all resorts (during MK operating hours).

Yes I hate the bus system for BWV and BCV way too many stops for me - we only will stay there when we drive down.

I wanted to add my perspective for what it's worth--as the mother of a young school-age child, we go at off-peak times now, but realize we won't always get to. Even still, we're finding it increasingly harder and harder to get into the more desirable resorts (BCV, BWV, WLV), and especially our own home resort of BWV (which sort of irks me in a way) at less than 7 months out, and our waitlists have been coming through less and less frequently. Basically, if I don't book my BWV at 11 months out, I don't get standard view. If I don't try to book there at all until less than 7 months out, I get "stuck" (no offense to OKW or SSR owners) at OKW and SSR every time. I can only imagine it being more difficult to get these prime locations during school vacation weeks. So the one thing I want to say is, I think there must be a lot of people buying in just to buy into the system and not staying at their home resort, because my home resort is getting harder and harder to get if I wait beyond my precious 7-11 month home resort advantaged window. In that case, I'd buy where I want to stay, cause I think a lot of people aren't and it'll be harder to get where you want to be at less than 7 months out in the future. Hope this helps in some way.
