Right now I have booked:

BWV Std View 2 bdr 6/21/07-6/26/07 for 242 points
(It'll be Me, DH, DM, Ds, DD6)
BWV Std View 1 bdr 6/26/07-7/1/07 for 174 points
(Mom will be going home)

I have 40 points in my 2006 UY and 14 points in my 2007 UY

We just asked Ds's friend to come along with us. I called Member services and they said that we could have 5 people in the 1 bdr, there just wouldn't be extra towels, etc. Now that we have asked Ds's friend along we would really like to have the 2 bdr for the whole time. Member services said that there wasn't a 2bdr available for the 2nd five nights at this point and according to my calculations I would need a total of 484 points and I only have 470 points at my disposal to use or borrow so I am short 14 points.

So:

Would you leave well enough alone?

Try to rent 14 points and get on a waiting list? (This is what I would need to do, right?) What would be my chances of clearing that waiting list?

You don't say how old your DS is. However, the one bedroom has enough floor space for sleeping. It's always hard when your children are different sexes so we have had to resort to some odd sleeping arrangements and the floor usually gets used. With the trip so far out and you can never be sure friends, I would stick with the one bedroom. Don't worry about the towels! You can always order an extra set which is cheaper than using your points. Are you banking your 2006 points? If you do decide to take the bigger room, why aren't you borrowing from your next use year? The points you have from 2006 and 2007 are part way to another trip with a stay in a studio!

Okay, here's my two cents worth. Don't change your travel plans for a "possible friend coming along" situation. We got...for lack of a better word...screwed when our daughter's friend cancelled on us. Since we weren't smart enough to learn from our first mistake, the same thing happened to us again...just with a different friend. No more friends coming on our vaction. Ok, so they never ACTUALLY came along, but you understand what I mean.

If the guest can't fit in the space you already have reserved, then don't do it. That way, you're not out extra points for a larger room that you don't really need.

Try switching to OKW on the second 5 days, Lower point cost.

I would leave it stand...I totally agree with Jody. Too many things can happen 7 months away.

But it you are dead set on doing a 2 brdm. Cancel one of your Friday or Sat nights and pay for it in cash...that should free up enough points(I would make the cash ressie now, and do a Waitlist for the 2 brdm at BWV-std, this way you have options...you can always cancel the cash room without loosing your ressie in the 1bedroom)

If not I agree with byoung..switch to OKW and save the points.
