I can flyon allegiant air for $131 including taxes per person from portsmouth to Sanford, so, that's less than $700 for all 5 of us. Should I go ahead and book it or should I wait and see if something from southwest comes out? I'm not going until August 25, but consider the flight on allegiant a pretty good price....what do you think?

That is a good price for tickets. I think the cheapest you are going to get with Southwest is going to be around $115 roundtrip/person (if you are lucky). I have never flown into Sanford- so if it is not too inconvenient for you and the cost of transportation to your hotel won't be significantly higher then go for it.
The only other factors that I could think of as far as flying out of Portsmouth- is your flight non-stop to Sanford and what type of planes do they use? (I prefer flying non-stop with a bigger plane.)
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I'd be concerned about booking a small airline. They seem to be dropping off pretty fast these days (example - Transmeridian, Independence Air). It's not like a major airline going into bankruptcy, when one of these go under they stop flying with little notice.

I wouldn't hold out for a cheaper price. However, I might hold out for a flight to MCO. Were you planning to rent a car?

When I was comparing Allegiant to SW I found that car rentals were cheaper at MCO than at Sanford but you also have free parking at Pease which is a consideration. I paid $130 r/t for our SW tickets for our May trip and I just got a $60 credit this morning thanks to a DING fare. It's really a toss-up between the two IMO - you could probably get a cheaper fare with SW if you hold out longer but than you're taking the risk of not being able to get the flights you need because they're full (I got the last NS flights available on a Saturday and I booked almost 4 months in advance). We flew Allegiant in October and would have flown them again but we needed a Saturday flight which they don't offer. FYI - When I was checking fares earlier this month Allegiant was $130 r/t but I just checked their website again and the fares for the week we're flying have increased quite a bit so if you're going to fly Allegiant you may not want to wait too much longer in case they bump the fares up for your timeframe.

Yes, I am. I booked a Chrysler Pacifica for $318 including taxes( that's for 9 days). Supposedly it seats 5 and holds 5 pieces of luggage. If we flew into mco, we would still rent a car. I'm probably going to go ahead and book it, it's just that they only offer one flight and we end up in Sanford at 10pm, so it would be 11:30 probably by the time we check into our hotel.

We can fly out of worcester for the same price but an earlier time, but I don't know about the parking situation at Worcester?

thanks, I think I am going to book it. I'm just afraid if I don't book it, something better won't come along. The bad part is its not like Southwest where you can get a credit if a better fare comes along...
