Help me decide which scenario to go with...We're staying for 4 nights in Nov, just decided & started planning the trip, woohoo! We normally stay at Shades of Green every year, which I love. But lately I've been wanting to try somewhere new and we love the boardwalk so we can walk right to Epcot.

Would you stay at SOG or pay $100 more per night to stay at the Swan or Dolphin? Is it worth the extra cost? We can afford it, but I also don't want to be an idiot with our money if it's really not worth it.

Thanks :)

Have never stayed in SOG but the Swan/Dolphin are very convenient to Epcot and the Studios. I LOVE to stay in the Epcot area and think that it is well worth the expense. How long are you going for? Perhaps a split stay would be nice so you could do both.

I personally would spend the extra money to be in walking distance of Epcot/HS.

We have stayed at SOG a number of times and while it is nice and we do not pay tax it was still out of the way at least for us.

We stayed at SOG when it was The Golf Resort and it was very nice. S/D though are favorites of ours and we stay there either when our DVC pts. are low or on weekends when DVC pts. are higher. Both are in perfect locations with tons of restaurants. We love walking to both Epcot and HS from the S/D. There really is not one thing I can think of that is a negative. If you want queen beds, stay at the Swan because the Dolphin has doubles.

:) I would pick Swalphin. It is a VERY nice resort with beautiful rooms and grounds. The location is awesome. I would take the opportunity and stay there. You will not be disappointed. However if I stayed at SoG I would always wonder.......what if I had just stayed that time in November?

Disney just released a military hotel special for the rest of 2013, start of 2014... when I ran numbers, I found the moderates at a discount to be comparable to SOG (depending on the rate and if you consider parking)

Just a thought!!!

Thanks everyone, I think I'm leaning towards S/D. I thought about doing a moderate, but the rooms are tiny compared to SOG.

We haven't stayed at SOG but we have stayed at both the Swan and Dolphin. We prefer the Dolphin and have stayed here many times. The rooms food and pool areas are all very nice. We like Epcot the best and its so convenient to be able to walk or take the boat. This also applies to HS. We also enjoy all the other resorts in that immediate area but for the price the Dolphin is our favorite

epcot area:thumbsup2 look for deals on their site,or on travel booking sites -quikbook,expedia,etc.

I'd go for the Epcot area. Strolling to the park through that back entrance is nice and you are so handy to other locations. There's no walking to the Poly or the TTC, etc.

SOG, while the rooms are bigger, they aren't anything to write home about (furniture, décor etc). <we always use the mil. discount, SOG just isn't our cup of tea and their food offerings are horrible and the last thing I want to see on vacation is AAFES...I see it every day living on post>

Maybe try the S/D once, then in future trips you will know that SOG is your preferred place or if trying new things is worth the extra price for location.

I look at that same choice just about every time, and we end up choosing SoG. The price is right, the rooms are huge, we like being among military and we like the convenience of being close to the Poly monorail. Maybe if we stayed at Swan/Dolphin once we'd see if differently, but whenever we look at the extra room cost, extra fees they add on (hate resort fees) and the taxes you pay at Swan/Dolphin and don't at SoG, we can't justify the extra cost.
