WWYD: Skip FOP due to motion sickness?

We have 2 days in AK, I'm starting to decide on our FP plan now. I'm having trouble deciding between River Journey & FOP for me on day #2. We're picking up the river ride for day#1 & I was going to pick up FOP for day #2 but I just saw that some people get very motion sick & I'm motion sickness prone. I'm fine on Soarin, not fine on Star Tours, and I did that Harry Potter ride with my meds once but a 2nd ride would have done me in.

I'm now thinking about skipping FOP for me & picking up a River Journey FP for day#2 as glow in the dark plants sound AWESOME. Getting motion sick is exhausting for me & I would be very sad to miss out on anything else at AK (dreamed of seeing the park since it opened & finally getting a chance!). I have zero interest in Avatar but the land looks cool & the river ride sounds neat. Is it crazy to do the Avatar river ride twice & skip FOP?

I'm fine on Soarin but can't stomach Star Tours and I was fine on FoP. Your mileage may vary but I was glad I didn't skip it! Also none of us in my family are Avatar fans but we loved this ride.

If you are fine on Soarin' I would encourage you to try Flight of Passage by all means! It is an incredibly smooth ride, and though it is a little more intense than Soarin', I don't think you would have problems with it. It is well worth trying because it is such a fantastic ride. We were there the day Pandora opened to general park-goers, and did Nav'i River Journey that day and FoP the next day. Navi' River Journey is quite nice, but FoP is utterly incredible! Star Tours is a bit jerky for me, with its acceleration and bumpiness. FoP has none of that.

Dramamine may be your friend here.

I'm okay on soarin but get sick on the 3D type universal rides. Hoping FOP will be OK...

I'm fine on Soarin' and did fine on FOP (took Dramamine just in case). It's such an awesome ride. If you can take something to help prevent it, I think you might be okay.

With you being prone to motion sickness you'd be well advised to skip this attraction. Getting sick on vacation just isn't worth it, not for you and not for all those other guests who would be extremely inconvenienced if the theatre had to be shut down. My grandson rode FoP with no problem in the morning then we went back later on with a FP and he got sick. (Fortunately just made it to the restroom.) He did star wars and Soarin fine. So we hadn't expected him to get motion sickness the second time around. You never know.

I imagine some people will have a problem on FoP, but it's no where near on the level of Mission Space Orange - or even Star Tours.
I would rather be queasy for an hour than miss FoP ... it's really that good. Best ride I've been on - worth a little motion sickness if that actually winds up happening. I think if you don't do it, you might regret it when you see the reaction of your family.

I'm on the fence myself. Soarin is my favorite ride in WDW, but I am concerned about the intensity of FoP, as well as the restraints on the seat. If we can't score FP we will definitely skip it.

Thanks for the opinions everyone! I still haven't made up my mind but I feel better informed now!

I'm in the same boat. I get very anxious on Star Tours, Green level of Mission Space, any virtual roller coasters etc and just figured I would skip FOP but I'm torn. It's not even so much as I get queasy in my stomach, but when I'm on any of the aforementioned rides I get so...it's hard to explain and it's all I can do to get through them. I think it's anxiety, but it's a feeling like I might pass out or die and I get dizzy (I know that sounds very dramatic but it really is a terrible feeling). Visually it's difficult for me. I am fine on and love Soarin' though, and hate to miss out on what could be something great when intellectually I know that even if FOP turns out to be awful for me, I won't die. I'm still leaning towards skipping it even though some of these posts are close to convincing me to give it a shot.

I love Soarin', it doesn't bother me at all. The new movie, when they transition between scenes, takes my breath away. It's not a bad thing, I just make an audible gasp and people probably think I'm crazy lol. I cannot do Star Tours any more. I used to love it when I was a kid, but the last time I rode it, I almost lost it. It ruined half a day for me. Mission Space green doesn't bother me at all.

FoP bothered me, a lot. I was surprised and disappointed at how much it bothered me. The motion of the ride wasn't too bad. But during the ride, there is a lot of air blowing in your face and at times, a mist of water. That combination is what did me in. I do not like air blowing in my face on a ride, and the mist really REALLY bothered me. I started having a panic attack and had to look away from the screen for most of the ride. The exit queue is very long for the ride, and I think that helped me calm down a bit. The restraints didn't bother me at all - I actually thought that was pretty cool. And it moves like it's breathing, so even cooler.

The ride is awesome, but very intense. I had no idea how intense it was because I wanted to be surprised when I rode it so I didn't read much about it and I didn't watch any videos. I recommend looking up a video on YouTube and checking it out for yourself. And imagine a strong fan and water spray in your face while it's going on. There's no shame in skipping the ride. River Journey was pretty cool, too. And the entire land is just beautiful!
