This sounds like a tough decision! As a former teacher and a mom, I want to point out that boys are already behind in maturity when they enter school. The fact that your son is younger than his classmates is already a concern for the future, so I would be hesitant to move him up to the next grade...
My MIL skipped a grade and regrets it to this day. She said that it made high school really hard because everyone else was more developed and mature than she was.
I totally see the other side and the concerns about your son being bored too!
