right now I am planning to go to WDW the last weekend of September. I have booked Thurs thur Sun for AKV Concierge studio. Currently it will be just my DD and myself. My friend has not confirmed that she will be coming.

I am thinking of waiting for free dining to come out and maybe trying to book a room at POR FQ for the two of us (or 4) and canceling my AKV room and banking my points.

Right now I could get the room for just under $2,000 based on the two of us going and two 10 day non expiring tickets including airline tickets. (We will be back in January.) If I could get it for that price with free dining, it wouldn't be much more than what I am spending now on the tickets and will pay for food out of pocket.

WWYD ?? Do you think that free dining will be just the basic wiht CS only or the regular package? I LOVE the rooms at AKV but am willing to try out other resorts and have never stayed at POR. What do think the chances of me being able to book a room ina mansion? Are those guaranteed rooms? I like to eat at TS so the CS only wouldn't really save me much compared to Concierge since I would at least have breakfast covered every day.

BTW, I think this will be my most interesting trip since we don't ahve a lot of rides planned. We want to see every parade and all the shows since we have never done that. We ahve never sat and watched the parade from start to finish and the only show we ahve ever seen is Indiana Jones (2x's) and Fantasmic (once).

As a DVC owner, the only way I would pay out $2K would be towards the purchase of more points. I try to keep all vacation expenses under the DVC umbrella.

Having been a frequent Dixie Landings vacationer (prior to becoming POFQ) it is a nice moderate resort, but not comparable in any way shape or form to any of the DVC resorts.

Good luck with your decision!

I agree completely with Carol. No way do we see any advantage to paying additional to travel to Disney. That's the whole purpose of buying DVC. We also don't find the dining plan appealing at all, and during "free" dining, it gets almost impossible to get reservations no matter if you are on the free plan or not.

I just figured that if I could tickets will be $874, airfare was $473 thru Disney, the room and dining would cost me just about $500. That is $240 worth of dining plan and the rest would be room, so the room would only cost me about $260. I could bank my 67 points and use them another time.

I love AKV and LOVE LOVE the concierge floor but thought this might be a better deal. If my friend and her DD come with, then it would be $390 worth of food and only $110 for the room since she will pay for her tickets herself.

Staying at AKV CL...includes all the offerings and drinks for CL guests. So you can save lots of money by having breakfasts, snacks, drinks, (even beer and wine) and evening's appetizers/soup in the CL lounge.

I just booked airfare from Jetblue in the middle of the night for Sept 23-30 for $74 from Boston - unheard of since 2005. I never book thru Disney. Try Jetblue or Southwest from NH.

I love AKV too - so glad we bought there. We bought without seeing it and went in February to visit it - my kids said why didn't we stay here?

LOL - It was one way but still soooooooo cheap compared to my last trip in Feb - now I know it was a vacation wk but I booked it way in advance and it was still $1200 for three of us.

Good luck! Let me know.

I am going alone with my DS#2 and maybe DS#1 joining us for the weekend. DS#1 will be a sophmore in SEpt. and football will be going on so I doubt he'll be able to come. I asked another friend and her son - but we are going no matter what - I booked the flight and got my Kidani wait list today!!!!! Ya HOOOOO!!!!!!
