While cleaning things out, we found an old Nintendo 3DS, a DS Lite, and 34 games (some 3DS, some DS, and some Gameboy). We've got the chargers for the 3DS & DS, a stylus, but not the original. Both devices power up and the displays work.

Looking up prices online for "loose", everything totals ~$600.

So, now what do we do with them? We don't sell on ebay.

I'm thinking GameStop or some other reseller, and would hope to get maybe $300 for everything.

I can do Nextdoor, but don't know if I want to deal with individuals agreeing to a price, then when we meet doing the "well, would you accept <some lesser amount?"

DW is on FB, maybe FB marketplace?

I would FB Marketplace them. Maybe two bundles - one with the 3DS and one with the DS Lite (not sure if the games would be specific to either of them. If not, maybe do a third bundle of just the games.

ETA: I think you'd get next to nothing by taking them to a GameStop - they give very little for trade ins of old equipment / games.

What games do you have? Some of them can be a bit pricey on the secondary market, depending. This is mostly going to be the desirable first-party (Nintendo made) games or nich but popular RPG type stuff, but it can vary. A game store definitely won't give you anywhere close to full value for them.

Don't sell them to Gamestop. You'll get nothing for them (plus Gamestop in general is an awful company but that's a discussion for another day).

I know you said you don't sell on ebay but I've had great success selling video games on there. Video game stuff does sell fairly quickly on ebay depending on what you have. That 3DS would definitely sell quickly - the 3DS is becoming more popular with collectors due to being able to easily mod the system without having technical knowledge.

In your case I would say Facebook Marketplace.

It varies. The highest value one (according to the website I was searching on) is Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky. There were some others in the $15-20 range.

Except I'm not established on ebay, so I'm not sure how well I'd be accepted. Plus, I'm a little concerned about someone paying, shipping them the games, then them claiming it doesn't work and asking for a refund.

Yeah, the Pokemon games tend to be ont he higher end of the scale for sure.

You do get more protections as a seller on ebay compared to Facebook Marketplace.

I always provide photos of the games working on the system or on my TV so they can't claim that they do not work. In all of my time on ebay I've only had 1 person do this and ebay sided with me as they filed the claim a year after they bought it.

I'm with @Smugpugmug , eBay is the way to go. I sell a lot of stuff on FB Marketplace too, but you're dealing with a way smaller pool of people, you will get a million messages from people who try to low-ball you then drop off the face of the earth, and eBay has protections in place, unless I have grossly mis-represented the product in some way. I've been selling since 2001 and I don't think I've ever had to refund anyone as far as I can remember.

Give very detailed description, photos, and photos showing the items functioning as described above.

Also have a Pokemon White version. When I google, it's a wide range of prices... 1764003405361.png

I also found some boxes that I can't find the games for. Would empty boxes (aside from instructions) have any value?

Games have more value with the box. They sell a TON of loose DS game cards at used game stores, and I could see someone being interested in the box - that's the kind of thing I would do. They wouldn't be worth very much though, but it might depend on the game.

Here's an alternative suggestion -- rather than trying to sell it all (1 bundle, 2 bundles, separate items, etc.), considering donating it to a local teen/youth center, homeless shelter, library, etc. I've found that the effort required to get "best price" resale just isn't worth my time and I feel much better donating, and the recipient organization is usually quite happy as well.

Yup this is why I will not deal with Facebook Marketplace. On ebay you can turn offers off and ever since I did that, I get WAY less lowball offers. People can still message you with these offers but I ignore them.

Also Sam be sure to check sold listings instead of just searching for the game and seeing what people are charging. Those are often 2 different prices. Here is what Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky is actually selling for:

Those advocating eBay... am I going to be "behind" because I'm a new seller?
Honestly speaking, probably. I tend to avoid buying expensive games ($100+) from people with little to no feedback. But from my posted screenshots, people with 10 or less feedback were able to sell their games so not everyone will discount you right away as long as you price your games appropriately and provide good, clear photos.

That's an idea too. Even accepting I'm not going to get the "best price" for things, if I get 1/2 the value, that's still ~$300. That could go a ways toward paying off DS' hospital stay from a couple of months ago.
