Oh yes! My parents went to the Disney Store today for the first time... didn't buy anything but nobody told them to go, they just went. It's not much, but as we all know it's the beginning of an addiction.

Glad to see this thread resurface.I think we all must be busy trying to find new info on our resort upgrade. I thought maybe we could share some of the info we gathered or tips we will be trying since this is probably most first stays at a DVC
I'll start.
1)It doesn't matter what building or section you get put in because most every person has different needs and desire.Some people say they like to be far away from the action and some will want to be close to the main blding or bus stop. You won't know what room your getting till check in. If you don't like the room you get go back the next day and asked to switch when a room opens up.
2)The stores in both OKW&SSR have alot of food to buy to bring into your room.(I called OKW store because we need soy milk for my DD and they don't carry it,so they said when we get there to let them know and they will get it from another resort that does carry it)She also mentioned that they can do that with other items.
3)Transportation is probably easyest(is that a word)to take a direct route whenever possable.There are several bus stops in the resorts.It may save you time to get off/on a a bus stop the is not the closets to your building and save time not riding around a bus.

Tips:We are bringing 1 piece of lugage that will be filled with nonparishable food items for breakfast and snacks.(Cereal,poptarts,micro popcorn,powdered gateraid mix and so on)We will purchase milk at the resort with snack credits.
We are going to order water from staples. 48 bottle of nestle pure life with shipping comes to 21.00$.Thats about 48 cents per bottle compare to disney 2.50 a bottle.then we will pack suveneirs in the empty suitcase.

We also are going to bring bath salt and bubble for the whirpool tub to soak in after a long day at the park.

I've been lazy lately, I think I got it all out of my system for awhile. I've been picking up little things to take with here and there (don't tell anyone, but at Dollar Tree). Last night I found this big Mickey hand on clearance at Target (sheesh, there I go again), and it counts and it talks and whistles. I have a 6 year old for an excuse, but I think I bought it for me.

My husband got a little freaked out when a DVC DVD came in the mail today, but I just said, "gee, I don't know why we got that."

I just wanted to say thanks to the DVCers who posted here. I feel a little less freaked out now. I was honestly starting to feel like an angry mob would be waiting at SSR 0n 8/26 with pitch forks and torches.

I got my DVD DVC a couple of weeks ago and I was very dissappointed with the video. They only show SSR and AKV for the resort rooms. I would have like to see OKW since that is where we are staying.they only show a few glimps of the resort.I would also like to have seen boardwalk villas because that is my dream resort. But on the upside if 20Grand should fall into my lap you know where it will be going.

Have you looked at the resort photos on allearsnet (.com)? There are quite few of them. It's just a little thing, but one of the things I like the most about OKW are the picket fences with Mickey heads in them.

Also if you go to the DVC website they have these really cool 3D virtual tours of the resort rooms. www.dvc.disney.go.com should get you there, and from there you can look at each resort. There is a ton of info and pictures, and the virtual tour really gives you a good idea of what the room actually looks like. I think there are floor plans on there too which I liked looking at.

Please be very careful using bubble bath in the jacuzzi, it is very easy to over do it and flood the bathroom.

hey dramaticmissy! i will definately be looking for all of my fellow free upgraders!! we will have t-shirts on too so be on the look out. we are so excited!!! 59 more days!! i know we have the t-shirts w/our faces on the front wearing our mickey ears that's like the mickey mouse club but i do have a lime green dis one too.

I got a $59.00 post card in the mail on Tuesday, called it in Yesterday and added a day at the beginning of our fabulous dream vacation at Movies, before we switch to SSR!!!! Awesome!!!

Right now our party of seven has two studios @ OKW and we are still trying to convert at least one of them to a 1bdrm. I *honestly* hope no one has to cancel, but if someone knows for sure they can't go will you please PM me and let me know when you are calling (yes...I feel like a total vulture!). I know 7/12 is the 45 day mark when packages with Free DDP check-ins on 8/26 need to be paid in full -- so hoping for some last minute changes!!!

That's great!!! We are currently @ POFQ for four nights prior to Free DDP and I've been debating on whether or not to pony up and stay @ OKW the entire time. It would only cost me about $120 more than I've already paid so I'm trying to decide if it's worth it not to have the hassle of getting our luggage transferred between two resorts (DH does not want to rent a car). I know it probably seems like an easy decision, but we always wanted to try POFQ and really wanted the convenience of having a food court the first few days.

I swear...I've had more anxiety and indecisiveness over this trip than any other we ever taken. It's seems like Disney is giving us new options every couple of weeks with all the different codes in play and I feel like my clock is wound a little too tight right now!!!

You should make a new thread on the 12th too in case someone isn't reading this one anymore. I hope you get one, but at least at OKW you get two real beds in the studio (and you won't have to fight over the king). That hot tub would be great though.

I'm never going to cancel ADRs or special reservations without posting first here, it's such a great board for nice people!

We all went together in April '06 and brought DMIL too -- had a great time...so here's hoping this trip is just as good!

I'd go with either. They both are excellent resorts!
