WWYD - Missing One Night Midtrip & Waitlist

We routinely split stays between AKV and BLT. It is different because we really like AKV, and so don't mind the change. Last summer, for example, we booked the first part of our trip to a studio at AKV, because it was just my husband and I. We switched to theme park view at BLT for a few days, when our son could join us because it is his favorite resort. But, we don't consider a room at AKV second rate.

We are in same boat as OP during the marathon in January. We are on WL for 2 bedroom lake view mid trip. I have a 2 BR lock off reserved but I don't want to have to move twice. Thempark view is available but I don't have enough points until my resale purchase is registered with Disney and by then, the themepark view will likely be taken. I keep checking but the marathon is a very popular time. I don't have the stomach for the unknown!

Well, after discussing with our travel party and covering everyone's advice here (which was really helpful - good to hear from everyone and know that this was indeed a tough decision!), we chickened out on trying for that missing Sunday and we're now booked for Sat and Sun at AK and waitlisted for either Sunday or Sat-Sun at BLT. If it comes through, great, and I will still idly check...but if it doesn't, we're all pretty happy with that.

It really boiled down to how much we really, really wanted to avoid two homeless days and how we all were actually pretty interested to spend some time with a Savannah view even though the split stay has some less than ideal factors.

So, I really hope someone has picked up that Sat night at BLT and it completed their stay!

What you ended up doing would have been my suggestion for back up as well so I am glad that it worked out for you! And, if that Sunday at BLT comes through, then you can adjust for just Saturday. I would make sure that you contact MS to be sure the details of what to cancel if that comes through are correctly noted. Any time I have done a wait list like this, I make sure to contact them directly to say "Be sure that it says that if Sunday comes through, I only want Sunday replaced in my AK reservation, not a cancel of both nights."
