WWYD? Looking for advice on trip in next 7-8 months

We are waiting for our points to get through ROFR. Our agent says he is confident it will pass but I know there are no guantees.

Before we even bought in we discussed taking a trip either in late January or early Feb (last choice would be last week March) to celebrate DD 18th. Yes, I know March is Spring break but it will probably be the last trip for a while with my high school senior.

My question is....I’m debating renting DVC for Poly is available or just booking a regular room.

It is highly doubtful that there will be availability for that time once our closing completes. I’m not risking a waiting list as that would be high risk for those dates at Poly.

Poly is non-negotiable. That is why we are trying to buy in there and it is a family favorite.

It sounds like an important trip. I would rent the points asap.

Availability at the Poly is already very very slim (mostly non-existant) for all of Jan, Feb and the first half of March. That last week of March might be possible to rent if you could do it like today. Too much longer and I'm afraid you'll be out of luck when it comes to DVC at the Poly.

I'm also a Poly owner, and my experience over the past 3 years has been that at the 7 month mark there is usually some availibility. But it disappears quickly between 6 and 7 months. By 5 months out there's nothing except for random single days. In the Fall (particularly the week of the Half-Marathon, availability can be gine at 8-9 months out.

Rent the poly now if it is non negotiable. Then turn around and rent out some of your points when you get them to offset some of the costs.

Agree rent it now. Poly standard has 6 days available for the last week of Feb/1st week of March and 5 days the 3rd week of March as of right now. Fangorn is correct. I have tracked Poly for March this year since that was our second choice. At 7 month, both standard and lake views were available, but were limited about 2 weeks after. It looks like all days are still available April 7th and on.
