I just realized my post sounded a bit judgemental, and I certainly don't mean it to. This is how I feel towards my family, and I certainly don't expect everyone to have the same views and feelings as myself. Good luck in whatever decision you make, and I am so sorry foryour loss.

I didn't take offense. DHs family is not that close, and these grandparents live far away. Growing up they made trip out to them as they could, but flying was expensive. He didn't feel as close to him as his other grandfather who he spent entire summers with. It isn't that he doesn't want to go for any of these reasons, but more like he is looking at the long term effects of not going and going.
