Would you check in a day before a third birthday and use 12 more points total to get free admission, etc. for the tot? At that point the value of the free admission outweighs the points in my reasoning, but I only calculated at the rental rate.

OR would you wait and go at an even lower points time, first week of September (HOT though) and save 52 points, but have to buy the three year old a ticket and character meals?

Decisions, decisions.

Your toddlers birthday isn't until a week later, right. A couple of days is not going to matter.

Don't sweat it at the gate. My boss took her 4 yo, that could have passed for a 5 yo, in as a 3 and under toddler. No one ever questioned her.

Go sooner and save the 12 pts. Tickets, dining, and other prices at Disney are just going to keep going up up up and negate any potential savings you may have had.

It depends on the length of the trip and other variables of how each trip fits in. I'd likely to the day earlier but either sounds OK. But as noted, they are not going to card the 3 y/o.

I realize now that my original post was confusing...I am sleep deprived, baby is cutting molars.

I should have said that the 12 point difference is for just a week apart, last week of April vs. first week of May. That seems negligible now that I think about it, both in terms of point difference and age difference. If we fudge on the age, hopefully my son won't constantly yell "I'm three!!!" Going several months later would save tons of points, but September is so hot. It really just comes down to preference at that point.

I've seen it happen before. I had a 3 y/o patient that told me they were 3 unless they were at Disney then they were 2. And I've seen kids at the gate proclaim their age of 3 with horror on the parents faces. Remember you only have to get in one day early to be completely within the guidelines.

I wouldn't lie about my child's age. I'd go the week earlier. People can debate the morals, but that's where I fall on the issue. What are we teaching our kids - it's sometimes ok to lie and cheat? I dunno. Especially since you are able to go when the child is 2, but it's only slightly more expensive (12 pts x $15/pt is only $180 - much less than food and admission for the tot for the week). And, just so you know, as Dean mentioned, as long as you check-in when the child is 2, they are free for the duration of the trip. So go celebrate the 3rd B-day at Disney.

I don't think September is too hot, though, and generally a fairly quiet time to visit. So, that's also a good time to consider...

I feel the same way and lying would give me enough anxiety to not make the 12 point savings worth it. ;) Celebrating a third birthday there would be great too!
