WWYD? Fantasmic or MK evening in December?

We're taking a quick December trip with our two kids (ages 5 and 6). We've been multiple times and LOVE magic kingdom at night yet aren't doing MVMCP due to our kids not lasting much past 9. There is one non party night during our trip and I'm wondering if we brave the "crowds" to see MK with the Christmas lights on, or spend our time at Hollywood Studios with lower crowds to see Fantasmic for the first time. So, what would you do?

Thanks!

IMHO, it really depends on whether you want to see Happily Ever After or not. If not, I would go to DHS. Quite honestly, I thought the new Christmas decorations they installed last year in DHS were nicer than the MK ones!

I'd go to HS. MK is going to be a madhouse on the rare night without a party going on.

HS has really stepped up their holiday game. I absolutely love it.

I think the kids would really enjoy Fantasmic! Fireworks, water screens, tons of characters. Make sure you bring jackets or a blanket that day. Those bleachers can get mighty chilly in December!

i like fantasmic. my kids do too. i would do that. HS is pretty cool at the holiday too.

If you have not seen HEA, it is worth seeing. However, during party times when the park is open late only a few nights a week, it is very crowded.
If seeing HEA is not a priority, then Fantasmic is a good second option. You still need either a FP, dinner package (both of which still have long lines) or arrive early and wait in a very long line to get in.

If you are going for just fantasmic then I would say no go to MK (the castle is so magical) but it seems like HS looks amazing with their projection display they have on TOT.

I too was really impressed with the DHS Holiday decor and activities when I was there last year, so I'd also vote for DHS over MK. And DHS is my 4th favorite park.

I'd do MK myself, but I've also seen Fantasmic before and was disappointed. I've also grown to abhor the terrible egress state of DHS after the galactic showcase.

[ Fantasmic is a fine show, at the time I watched it, it was the only 'night show' at DHS, and was heavily hyped and a bit of a 'fight' to get good seats ]

I think my first question would be will you be in the magic kingdom after dark even if it isn't for a party ? I think Elsa ices the castle around 6pm every night and you do not need to be a party guest to stay to see that. It is truly magical to see and it would be at the top of my must sees of the holiday seasonal stuff. If you will be able to catch that on one of your regular days then yes head on over to Hollywood studios... HOWEVER I might suggest jingle bell jingle bam instead of Fantasmic. It is a very cute kid friendly show ! Enjoy your trip !

If your kiddos don’t like scary situations, I would pass on Fantasmic. The part where the evil queen becomes a dragon is a bit much for some. We love it but it gets quite dark before Mickey triumphs. If you don’t have a fast pass, you need to arrive early and wait.

I agree. Fantasmic can be intense for youngsters. I personally would skip DHS and stay for HEA.

I would avoid MK on a non-party night, especially if you can't stay much past 9 o'clock. My kids loved Fantasmic at that age. In fact, one of our most memorable times ever at Disney (we've been quite a bit) was the 45 minutes or so we spent in the theater before the start of a Fantasmic show. The kids were about the same age as yours. They bought some of those glow toys, we had ice cream, and we talked about our favorite things on the trip so far. It was a magical Disney experience.
