We are thinking of taking our 3 children back to Disney in June of 2008. We went in 2005 and in 2007. We are trying to pick which deluxe resort we want to stay at. Our question is do we go club level with no dining plan or do the dining plan with no club level??? We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge concierge level with the dining plan in 2005. We loved everything about that trip but did find it to be a lot of food between the two. So if you had to decide which would you pick??? My children will be 7yrs old, 5 yrs old and 4-5 months old.
TIA!

How old are your kids? Do you like to eat at the resort more, or at the parks? Do you take a lot of breaks back at the hotel? Do you do equal amounts of table/counter service? What are your touring plans like? And why is your font so huge?

Do you like gladiator movies ?

Have you ever seen a grown man naked ?

Have you ever been in a Turkish prison ?

...never mind... just the twisted mind of a stressed individual (oh yeah, that's me!)

If you did not want to help you did not need to respond to the question. Why is your font so small?

What a way to be welcomes to the boards....Sorry about that....

:welcome: to the Dis

I have this debate all the time. I think you need to ask yourself how many meals can you eat in a day? I LOVE the special traetment from conceirge and with a new baby, this might come in handy. For example, they can shop for you and get formula and diapers...We make meals out of the appetizer hour SOME nights. We cant go without some of our favorite restaurants. I like to say that the breakfast is convient but my DHs responce is that we could order room service everyday and still not make up the difference. With a new baby you will be taking breaks so you will take advantage of the food offerings....

Thank you for the welcome!

I know my post count is 3 or 4 but that is b/c I have not posted since my last trip in April. After that I got pregnant and was not on the boards and for the life of me I can not remember my username or password. That is what I get for trying to make up a cute disney name.:rotfl: Sooooo after all the posts I had racked up I had to start over.:sad2: Buuuut I think DH just remembered it. Need to try it once I post this. LOL!! So anyway, I have seen it all on here. The good, bad and ugly. Thanks for the advice. This is soooo hard! Decisions, decisions!

I see you are from MA. I am also! It took my poor DH 6 hours to get home tonight in the snow when it usually takes 1 hour.

Using large font can mess up the way this forum displays on some older computers - that's why I asked. My font is the size it is because that is the standard setting for this website. It's also considered good internet etiquette to use better contrasting colors.

I was trying to help, I asked questions to better understand what the OP's situation was - how could anyone answer the orignial question, there was no info about how the family spent their mealtimes. And I'm sorry that I missed the ages on the original post. The large purple font does not show up well on my computer.

We stayed concierge once, when we got a surprise free upgrade at YC. It was nice, but having experienced it now, I wouldn't pay an extra $140/night for it. We bought the dining plan on our last trip and took advantage of it to eat in places we might not have if we were paying OOP. My only real complaint with the DDP is the lack of variety in the children's menu. My 5 year old loves mac and cheese, but she was pretty sick of it by the end of the trip. Your kids would also be limited to the children's menu in most places, so I think the thing you have to ask yourself is whether they can be happy with the limited selections. You've done the DDP before so you probably have a good idea what the answer to that question is:).

We won't buy the DDP next year because of the children's menu and because they took out the gratuity. If I HAD to choose one or the other (concierge or DDP) I'd go with the DDP because I think you get far more for the money.

If I was going to spend the extra money, I'd actually be more inclined to spend it on a standard room at one of the more expensive deluxe resorts.

Oh wait, the OP edited her first post, so I didn't miss the ages of her kids, she added it afterwards.

If my family had the choice of dining or concierge, I'd think about how we wanted to spend the trip. If we planned on staying a lot at the resort, I'd do concierge. But if we were going to spend a lot of time in the parks I'd do the dining plan.

We stayed concierge last September for 10 nights at the Poly & had the dining plan - way too much food! We had a great time, but I don't think I'd stay concierge again, just wasn't worth the extra money to me. The OP was right, you can order room service & it still wouldn't come out to what you'd spend for concierge. That being said, the lounge is very convenient for breakfast- we used this every morning. Other than that I think we ate dinner there one evening & maybe two other evenings we had a couple drinks while watching the fireworks. The food they put out are more like appetizers you would find at a happy hour. If you could make a meal out of that, go for it. My kids really didn't like much of the nightly selectios, so we ended up having to buy them something anyway. We have three young kids, ages 2, 3, & 5 and we were barley at the resort long enough to use the lounge as a meal plan.
