Hi all -

I already own 150 resale points at BWV that I use exclusively for a March Spring Break trips - I bought the contract when I anticipated traveling for 5 nights each year but circumstances have changed slightly and we are able to stay longer - 8 nights.

Enter the problem - 150 is no longer enough if I don’t secure Resort View. No judgment for those who walk, but I just don’t have it in me. It’s challenging enough for me to be at the ready at 8 AM at 11 months let alone multiple days weeks earlier. That leaves booking P&G view, and I’m short points.

And least for the last 2 years, there’s been ample 7 month availability for P&G studios which makes me wonder if I should just sell my BWV contract and load up on more resale SAP+ (which for me would be CCV).

I know some would disagree with my choice of SAP+ but let’s assume it truly is an either or…WWYD?

Important point - studio.
I was heavily leaning CCV but studios are much harder than 1 bed. I think BWV is currently at a great price (for sellers) resale so selling now and extending your years with CCV could be well worth it. Could you spend more points on a 1 bed at BW if you did the CCV SAP or would you still only have enough for studios? Such a tough one.

So then you have to pay commissions to sell and another round of closing costs to buy? What does that net you?

Let’s say BWV for $120pp gross on 150’points. $18,000. Less estoppel and 9% commission: down to $16,230. Now subtract out another $750 in closing costs in a new CCV contract. $15,480.

So, you are netting $103pp if you can get on the higher end of the resale prices… no guarantee of that.

@$125pp CCV resale you are getting 125 CCV points. That doesn’t help you with getting more nights per year.

I’d keep what you have.

What's the future look like for you? Kids still young or are you retired/retiring somewhat soon? Does long term value matter to you? Will you still be going to WDW 17 years from now? I'd personally do CCV but that's because I'm still planning to be in the parks after 2042 and being at BWV isn't a must for me. If long term WDW is the goal then it's a good time to jump ship and make CCV your home resort, if having the best location for the next 17 years is the goal then obviously I'd just keep the BWV.

I do think all the extra years on the contract make any selling fees worth it. A small amount to pay per extra year. The point where it doesn't become worth it is if BWV is a must stay at for her.

It looks like you could swing 7 nights with your 150, right? Is that one extra night super important to you?

But netting $103 pp for BWV wouldn’t be bad since I paid $95 pp for a fully loaded contract?

I still have a young kiddo and retirement is still a ways off (+ DVC is part of my retirement plan 😎)

Sorry, realizing I wasn’t super clear in my initial post. I wouldn’t swap 150 at BWV for 150 at CCV - I’d plan to buy 200 at CCV to give me more flexibility and not run into the same issue potential issue otherwise, I agree - it would absolutely not make sense.

Buy a resale 50 pointer at BW - I don't trust SV at boardwalk, and I would not trust 7 month availability long term.

I added on for my may week for the same reason , I just cant rely on getting SV so I got enough for P/G. The point chart is so favorable at BW and you will get SV some years.

As I found with Poly, it may look good on paper but you cant pop into Epcot for a drink and snack like you can at BW.

One other thought, P/G is not that far off from RIV studios point wise and they are until 2070 and they are priced the same.

As much as I love to enable DVC purchases, I don’t see the value of buying a small BWV contract right now. Small contracts will inevitably go for more than they’re worth and it’ll take some time to find one in your price range/UY/not stripped, dwindling it’s worth even more, we are already at 16yrs of use if you can get 2025pts.

But I’m also not sure swapping your points for CCV is any better. If you really only want to stay at BWV during spring break, I’m not sure you’ll be satisfied trying for BWV at 7mo. Getting 8 days in a row, even PG, will probably be challenging.

If you don’t mind being “stuck” at your home resort (which I know you do love and have your FW there), then selling BWV and instead buying CCV could just be a good opportunity to get out of a 2042 resort while it still has value and be content if you occasionally get to use those points at Boardwalk.

But also, if your BWV contract is solely for those spring trips, then the third solution is to just borrow when you have to. It’ll take a couple years before you’ll run out of borrowing power and either you skip a spring trip that year to replenish your BWV pts, stay less days a few years, use other points to stay somewhere else (or try for BWV at 7mos), and use OTUP to help fill the gap. And you’ll likely get a SV stay once in a while anyway, so the amount you will be borrowing may not be as bad over the years🤷🏼‍♀️

My view is sure P&G is a fine choice if you don’t ever care for any other category. What fun is that when you like BWV. Seems your travel habits require more points regardless. I’d add on more BWV resale at the best price value I find.
