Working on ADR's for our honeymoon...staying CL so we don't have a lot and we'll be paying OOP for all of them ... i'm looking for someplace for a nice dinner on our non-park day...the plan is relaxing by the pool and going on the bass fishing excursions...my choices were Artist Point and Coral Reef. Can't decide!!!

Have you had any experience with these two? Or have any other suggestions...our other ADR's are:

CRT - breakfast
California Grill - dinner
Jiko - Dinner
Le Cellier - lunch

TIA!!:lovestruc

there is any comparison. Artist Point is much better than Coral Reef. It will also be more expensive.

The atmosphere at Artist Point is western national park dining room. It's very open but quiet. The service has always been top notch for us.

There are fans of Coral Reef but we have not returned after our first trip. It's not that the experience was bad, but we go to the beach along with the Disney trip usually. We usually find better seafood at the beach so we allot our time elsewhere. (Same thing for Teppan Edo. Our kids like that style of cooking so we visit similar restaurants at home a lot and see no need to eat there at Disney.)

We have done the other restaurants on your list. CRT has only been lunch and the focus has been our daughter so our experiences would be different. Le Cellier is great for lunch. CG has great food. It can be a little loud at times. Jiko is a great all around dining experience.

Jiko and AP, if you opt for it, will be the two more intimate meals of those you listed.

I would select Artist Pointe.

You might also consider Citrico's or Narcoossee's. After dinner you could take the walkway from the GF to the PR (Hawaii).

Artist Point is a much nicer meal than Coral Reef. OK, the view into the tank at CR is nice, but after the first 15 minutes its just wallpaper and you realize that the food doesn't stand on its own here very well. OTOH, the food and service at AP are absolutely wonderful.

Artist Point is probably the best bet of any Disney restaurant on the dining plan for a quiet meal. Coral Reef is probably the noisiest of all of them.

There is also no comparison in food quality or service.

Artist's Point, without question. We stay at the Wilderness Lodge, but even if we didn't, we'd make a special trip to eat here. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is very romantic and soothing. They also have a great wine list. Even our four year old loves the food here. You won't be disappointed.

Coral Reef, in our opinion, is one of the worst restaurants at WDW.

Ditto!!!

While we enjoy both Artist Point and Coral Reef, we definitely would go with Artist Point. It was such a great restaurant - the food and atmosphere was fantastic.

Well...Coral Reef is in Epcot and you said non-park day so Artist Point it is. But I love Coral Reef. It's my favorite restaurant at WDW!

Well so far everyone is saying Artist Point (which was my first choice) I think DFi will enjoy it more since he's really into that type of food plus he will LOVE that they have venison pot stickers and buffalo dishes (if that doesn't change before we go)

I was really liking coral reef mainly for the atmosphere..there wasn't much on the menu that I would eat but I knew DFi would like...if your thinking the atmosphere is better than food perhaps we will go with Artist Point....

I did think about Citricos like someone else had suggested but I kind of like the quiet warm atmosphere of Artist Point...it just seems that it would be more intimate...am I right??

Citricos is a lovely restaurant and can be quite intimate if you hit the right night, right dining crowd. It can also be incredibly noisy if you don't. There is no real "decor" or theme at Citricos. Artist Point has always been quiet for us and it's definitely themed in the Pacific Northwest/cabin vibe. If you are there before the sun sets, there are huge windows overlooking the woods and it's a beautiful view. I think it's the perfect setting after a fishing outing. If you have time, you can sit in the big porch rocking chairs, walk the grounds, etc. It's very nice.

I don't find Artist Point to be romantic at all. The atmosphere always seems very casual to me and I'm really not that impressed with the food-though I know there are many fans.

I would go with Narcoossee's (with a really late seating) or Victoria and Albert's. V&A's is a total splurge-but definitely the most romantic. I have also heard really good things about the restaurants in the Swan and Dolphin (Blue Zoo and Shula's) and have heard there are much less kids there as they're not on the Dining Plan.

Enjoy your honeymoon!

Thanks for all the suggestions....Narcoosees was an option but I just didnt find a lot on the menu that I would go for...we would LOVE to do V&A but I just don't think that will be in the budget...maybe if we have money left over in the honeymoon registry I will go for it :thumbsup2

I have been reading wonderful reviews of AP lately, I would like to try that!

AP has been getting hotter and hotter here on DIS. I'm definitely going in Oct., I HAVE to HAVE the mushroom soup. A side note on Citrico's: We went there on our honeymoon. I believe there was 1 table with kids sitting around us. It was great. They sat us at a table that faced the water so we saw an awesome sunset and even got to see fireworks! :) :cloud9:

Definitely Artist Point. We love it there--mushroom soup, mussels, buffalo, wild boar, salmon, berry cobbler, and fig clafouti are wonderful.

Coral Reef is OK, but is always sooooo loud, with kids running up and down the stairs and climbing over people who are at those tables next to the tank. Defninitely not what I would call a 'nice meal'.

Artist Point is our favorite signature. Coral Reef is nice for a TS if you are in Epcot, but if you are looking for a great meal then I would definitely go with Artist Point.

I will still go with Artist Point, but they changed the berry cobbler. It's no longer fresh berries and was a huge disappointment to me.I will skip dessert now.

Bobbi:goodvibes

We LOVED Artist Point and we thought it was quite romantic; quiet, beautiful setting (yes, casual, but sophisticated), great wine list...anyway, it put US in the mood;).
