WWoHP Expansion Confirmed by Inside the Magic

My second post, but I've been lurking here since my US/IoA trip during the week of Thanksgiving.

Anyway, I really hope that this expansion of HP consists of The Lost Continent section. I'm not a big fan of putting another HP land in what was once "Amity". Harry Potter in one park is enough for me, but I'm sure I'm in the minority.

I agree with the above posters though: Please, don't let it be a simulator or 3D ride that replaces Jaws! The Simpsons is enough technology for me! I'll gladly take a dark ride or a coaster any day! :)

I so agree with you on this!

I called her and Sims out on that on Twitter last night. She actually responded with "Well, that's because we're press..." Come on.

Okay, both run HP fansites with a lot of traffic. I'm okay with exclusive Q&As with J.K.R. and the cast and crew, as well as set visits, since not everyone can do that. What I'm not okay with is seeing the movies in advance, as well as previewing the theme park early (if they didn't come over during the soft opening in spring 2010). (And I'm sure they'll get to preview the Leavesden studio tour next year, as if they haven't been on set already...)

You didn't see them getting the last book early and raving about how good it was, et al. They're just saying "Ah ha ha ha! We're privileged!"

While there this last summer it was hinted that Hogsmeade would be expanded out into the Lost Continent section of the IOA...in part to allow for seperate buildings for some of the stores.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what they do with the "Jaws" area. But I do hope they keep all Harry Potter in the IOA. Have the two parks stay distinct from each other.

I might be in the minority, but I like the Lost Continent section. I'll be disappointed if it's taken away for Potter :/

More people than you think see the movies in advance. We actually saw the last two HP movies in advance through my husband's company. They have an affiliation with the HP brand, so we saw the movie days in advance.

they might as well shut all the other attractions and call it the harry potter studios for all the potter they're ramming down everyones throats.

i read that it's going to be taking over the poseidon area too. that and US? no thanks. i vote keep jaws.

I lament the termination of jaws (pun intended) and am big fan of poseidon & sinbad shows, but...i was really surprised to see that poseidon didn't morph into a nod to the snake battle scene in chamber of secrets since there was all that water technology in place already.:confused3

a gringot dark ride would be amazing (ala spiderman), as long as it's a family friendly addition to US to keep the balance. Last thing they need is another tempermental coaster imo

I agree Janet and I think it's important for Universal to include everyone in planning the new attraction. I will be disappointed if it's another high energy, fast moving attraction that some people can't enjoy. Sometimes I think Universal is more concerned about "wowing" people they forget a segment of the community. Since I don't ride coasters any more, I would like to see something that I could ride w/o having to worry about getting sick or having any type of illnesses...you know?

yes i do, afraid dark rides that don't rely on giving a guest whiplash to get a thrill will go the way of the dinosaur soon.

I hope it's something that doesn't rely on digital screens or 3-D glasses.

Amen!

I also enjoy the Poseidon & Sinbad shows. The kids loved the Sinbad show when they were younger.

I think the building that houses the Poseidon show is one of the most striking I've seen in any theme park. I would be sorry to see the structure go, even if the attraction inside it is a bit hokey. (I do, though, love the water vortex!)

Yes...the themeing in The Lost Continent area is very well done.

My sentiments exactly! That building is exquisite, even if the attraction isn't so much. The vortex is the only reason I go in there anymore!

So, do they have the vortex working again? The last time we went thru the attraction, they were just using fog...a real let down so haven't wanted to do it again.

Vortex has been working for quite a while now. Since before WW opened.

I, for one, can see the Lost Continent going away by being replaced by HP. What I don't see is Jaws being taken over- unless they plan on doing all of it and opening up a third gate.

Just my two cents, but if WWoHP takes over the rest of the Lost Continent you can bet Universal will try and reuse as much of the technology and infrastructure already in place. In other words I doubt we'll see the deomlition of the Poseidon building. It would probably get a makeover, but I just don't see the building getting demolished. I could also see a Harry Potter type show going into the space occupied by Sinbad.

What about Mythos? Will the expansion go that far? Could it become a Harry Potter character meal of some kind, or maybe just a Harry Potter themed restaurant? Lots of possibilities here.
