wwdy? had some surgery this week

on a part of skin (not cosmetic). Paying out of pocket. ASked specifically, 3 times, what I'd be charged and the office told me one price (on phone).

after surgery, receptionist charges $200 more than said price. I have to pay it , not argue as 1. in pain and 2. had to pick up dds.

Sorry that happened to you. I know that many times there are unforeseen additional charges that can be incurred, such as testing, pathology, additional anesthesia/ facility time, meds, etc. hope you get it worked out!

Any chance you got a written quote before the surgery? Preferably one with a breakdown? Did you get a receipt (again, preferably with a breakdown), when you paid? If the PP's thoughts are correct, you'd be able to see if there is anything "extra" on the receipt and question it.

I have had three surgeries on my nose in the past 3 years...just had the last (and final!) one in January. All I can say is that I have been given a price sheet in person that gives a breakdown of the charges that I have had to sign in front of them saying that I understand the charges and what will/won't be covered by insurance, assuming there is any out-of-pocket. I have then been given a copy of that paper. The one time I was not given one of those it is because the entire procedure was going to be covered by insurance. I do know that I have also signed something saying that sometimes there are unforeseen things that happen that could add additional needs and charges, or something along those lines, that gives them permission to proceed if they find anything additional. If nothing was in writing it becomes your word against theirs. I wouldn't give up though, just stand your ground, and always always get it in writing if it involves money out of your pocket.
