This morning, I got an email about $30 flights from our local airport to Orlando, so I have to admit, it gave me the itch.
So, I am in the midst of planning a quickie weekend away to the Mouse. Probably no parks. Probably nothing major. Just Disney Springs and sun. For $30, not sure I can beat it.
Unfortunately, return flights aren't until Monday, so I will likely be looking at another airline coming back, which actually put me down a deeper rabbit hole.
Here are my options: I could fly out Thursday, arriving around 8 pm, then fly out Sunday afternoon. Both would be out of Sanford, which I'm not super thrilled about but it is what it is. This flight would be $103
I could fly out Friday, arriving around 11 pm, then fly out on the same Sunday afternoon flight. In this case, arrival would be at MCO and departure would be out of Sanford. This option is $99.
I'm not thrilled with the commute to/from Sanford with the first option, but it does get me there sooner and buy me an extra day- which you could consider a positive or negative, as it is an additional day hotel expense.
Going into it, I just planned on Fri-Sunday anyway, so I'm not really losing anything if I go with that option. But, knowing that an extra day is an option....now, it makes me wonder what to do.
So with option 1- there is the small extra expense on the flight, an extra night's stay, the added expense of transportation over MCO, plus the extra time to and from the airport. Is all of that worth the extra day? Let me know your opinions.
There is a third option, which has me flying into and out of MCO, in Friday, out Monday, but it would be Labor Day weekend. Not crazy about traveling during a busy weekend, and also want to be prepared there may be family get togethers planned too. But, it's $138. Just wanted to keep it in the mix.
