Minniemom, this is probably gonna seem confusing, but you'll get the hang of it.
IF your nutrition label provides calories, fat, and fiber for 1 cup of popped corn, it's easy to do. Just pop your corn, count how many cups are in the bag. Then multiply the calories, fat, and fiber by however many cups are in the bag, and use those figures to figure out your point.
Sometimes, there's not complete information for both the popped and unpopped. IF you don't have fat or fiber for popped corn, here's how to do it:
1.) Pop your popcorn. Count how many cups of popped corn your bag makes.
2.) Get the following from the nutrition label:
*number of servings per bag
*calories in 1 cup of popped corn
*fat
*fiber
3.) Multiply the fat grams by the number of servings per bag.
4.) Multiply the fiber grams by the number of servings per bag.
5.) Multiply the number of calories per popped cup by the number of cups you had from step 1.
6.) Use those values to figure out your points.
For example, I buy the store brand. Here's how I'd figure the points following the steps from above:
1.) each bag pops about 8 cups
2.)
*2.5 servings per bag
*25 calories per popped cup
*4 grams of fat
*4 grams of fiber
3.) 4 grams of fat X 2.5 servings = 10 grams of fat
4.) 4 grams of fiber X 2.5 servings = 10 grams of fiber
5.) 25 calories X 8 cups = 200 calories
6.) Using 200 calories, 10 grams of fat, and 10 grams of fiber, my popcorn comes out to 4 points per bag.
