Ok, I have added as many buffets to my ADR's as I would like to, only because when I look at the kids menus to these $$$$$$ Table service places, its well... pathetic.. and doesn't look appetizing at ALL. My 7 year old likes Pizza and pasta, BUT wouldn't it be cool if he could try something other than that at all these meals?
Please let me know of a GOOD table service restaurant with a good kids menu... ?? if there is one? in all of WDW? Can I upgrade him to adult meals?
Poor thing will be eating all my food, which Im fine with.. but.. UGH you get my point. :surfweb:

Went through the same thing a couple years ago (DD 7) - she liked Coral Reef (still pizza, but came with a lobster bisque - and she loved the aquarium), Teppan Edo (same meal adults get - maybe portion was smaller, but she really liked the noodles), Beirgarten (buffet, but she really enjoyed the band and the food). A big thumbs down fro her was Cinderella's Royal Table, as she hated the food - nuggets, but they were badly cooked). 2 credits as well.

Not really helpful I know, but the only restaurant she didn't really like for food was CRT. Obviously we let her try our food etc. all of the time, but she was usually content.

We also do a lot more buffets than we would like for the same reason!
Although I have not tried it yet, I am looking forward to BOG with their kid's Mahi Mahi. My DD loves fish so she will definitely order it there.

I don't understand why kids meal = chicken nuggets or pizza or maybe mac and cheese. And that's it. None of them are good nutritionally and I cannot believe that American kids will eat nothing else!!

You can upgrade him to adult if you're on the dining plan, or if paying oop he can order anything he wants. :)

We're doing one buffet a day to give the kids large selections of food options. Plus BOG which has decent looking options too.

LOL Yes we too have one buffet a day.. LOL sounds like a bad song.. but literally, we have Chef Mickeys, Hollywood and Vine, Tusker House, Garden Grill, HDDR, and Coral Reef? but after looking at the kids menu, Im thinking about changing it completely.. Maybe something at DTD? ideas?

We are on the dining plan, and he is the only one still left with that ratchet kids menu :rotfl2:

Personally I would stick with the child price and stick to buffets.

Crystal Palace, BOMA, 1900 Park Faire, Cape May, Ohana, Trails End...

Ohana is a must, followed by Boma then Crystal Palace (IMHO)

My children's favorite are Boma, Cape May, Teppan Edo and Crystal Palace.

On our last trip I had one child considered a Disney adult and the other still a child. While my youngest certainly loves pizza, he doesn't want to eat it every day. We did almost all buffets so he would have variety. The counter service choices were the problem because the choices were limited and redundant. Plus the portion sizes were tiny. He mostly just shared with me which was fine.

He's looking forward to being on the adult plan this time. Our favorite restaurant is Kona and he can't wait to get the Kona Kone.

Trying to appeal to the masses. I'm always amazed at how many threads pop up complaining about BOG which has a much different selection than your average TS.

Or how many threads pop up with 'my kids will only eat chicken fingers and macaroni.'

If you want to upgrade your child on DDP you need to "age them up" so they appear on the reservation as at least 10 years old. If you're on a package with tickets you need to buy them an adult ticket, but the dining will be adult credits.

Because that's what the majority wanted. Note there are often threads about carrying chicken nuggets or pizza into Be Our Guest because the place doesn't have those things on the menu and that's what the kids want to eat. WDW tried to go an all healthy kids meal route, that ended pretty quick. Look at the Mickey Check meals, they are at least meant to be balanced.

We went through the same issue a couple years ago with one child considered adult and one considered a child. My children will try anything and pretty much despise the standard "kid fare" and at one restaurant my DD was complaining about it when the waiter suggested an adult entree in kids portions. I believe she hugged him for that. I don't know what restaurants will allow that, but it's definitely worth asking.

Yep.

Those threads drive me insane.

We loved Boma last time, maybe I will add that one on instead of Coral Reef... thanks for the insight...

On the dining plan, some might not. You are supposed to be restricted to the child's menu on the dining plan.

We LOVED Ohana breakfast we need to try the dinner, and BOMA.. YAY !! We loved that one too. Maybe I will go back there... always a good variety on the buffets.. :goodvibes Thanks

My child loved BOG at lunch. Is expect dinner to be as good or better! Sanaa had a pizza made on naan that was good and different. Ohana was a big hit, too. We also all loved Raglan Road and better child selections!

My daughter was so glad to be 10 on our last trip for this reason-more choices and bigger portions. You would not know it to look at her, but she can eat me under the table. On that trip we were not on the ddp so we just had 3 buffets during the 8 night trip. I thought I could still get away with a few kids’ meals, but no. As soon as she realized the deal it was “No more kids’ meals mom”. I ate a few as I didn’t really have a huge appetite.

Back to the ddp for our upcoming trip and 1 buffet a day except for the day we have CRT. Their favorites food wise were Tusker House and Ohana; but, they liked the food at all of them. We have done Crystal Palace breakfast and dinner, Tusker House breakfast and lunch, Garden Grill, Ohana dinner, Chef Mickey’s breakfast and dinner, Hollywood and Vine breakfast and lunch, and Akershus breakfast. I love the family style service at Ohana, Garden Grill and Akershus. My younger child is 4 and Disney kids’ meals appeal to him, but it is mainly the option to get grapes at every meal. He’s a big fruit eater and I think between the ones that came with his meals and the ones I ordered from Garden Grocer he ate his weight in grapes last time.
