WTH China???

This is disgusting, but then again, this is the same culture that puts up their little girls for adoption. At least they don't club them to death.

What should a Chinese woman do with a baby she is unable to care for? Would you rather she throw it in the garage like some teens in this country do? As the mother of one of those girls I can't begin to thank that woman for her most selfless act.

Cool-Beans: Chinese people most certainly do eat dog. It's considered a delicacy and dogs are specially bred for this. With regard to the pet thing. While some Chinese people may have dogs as pets they don't take it to the level of extreme as some people in this country do. You can guarantee that if the family was without food that dog would be dinner not unlike a farmer in this country killing one of their animals for food.

Considering what the Chinese have been doing to the Tibetens for the last few decades what do you expect?

No kidding!

I don't understand why people posts links to these atrocious things. I know the OP is outraged and wanted us to be too....but I am too sensitive when it comes to animals and I knew better than to open the link because I don't want to sit and cry at work.
there are just horrible things in this world and its really hard to see them sometimes. :guilty:

You were aware of what the link was and you chose not to open it. I understand that sensitivity. There are things that I "know" about that I will not look at. But surely you understand the motivation to post otrocities. People ARE angry over stuff like that. All you have to do to avoid being upset is to not look.

While some Chinese people may have dogs as pets I highly doubt they go over the top and treat them like children as some people in this country do. You can also guarantee that if the family was without food that dog would be dinner not unlike a farmer in this country killing one of their animals for food. While I don't agree with the level of governmental control that occurs in China - it is what it is and people there need to accept it or revolt.
I've been all over the orient, many times. It has been my experience that the Chinese do NOT eat a lot of dog. Some, but not much. And mostly the poorer people. I've told my Chinese buddies how everyone in America thinks they really like dog and eat a lot of it, and mostly they are aware of it, but don't have an inkling as to why.

Koreans do eat a lot of dog.

.

Fortunately the teenagers that throw their babies in the trash and few and far between. That is why we hear about it. It makes national news. I am THRILLED that some Chinese women are adopting out their infants, but I do say some. I think thank God for every Chinese infant who is adopted and makes it to the USA. It is a blessing for parent and child. I think that infanticide still goes on however and in significant numbers and it dates back years, (Pearl Buck, The Good Earth). It has become "acceptable" in that culture. It just not "the law" anymore.

This makes me sick. I continue to be appalled by the Chinese fur trade and that culture's actions toward animals in general. I am a proud member of PETA who has written letters/emails and made numerous phone calls to bring these practices to the attention of others in hopes that the Chinese government would be forced to take some action. This recent incident is just another heartbreaking example of what goes on every day in China.

If nothing else, I hope this will encourage some people to stop purchasing fur products from China (boycotting all fur would be ideal!) - much of it comes from cats and dogs - as well as looking for alternatives to products made in China.

Now is the time to speak for those who have no voice. As Mahatma Gandhi said "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated."

As a dog owner, I can't imagine walking my dog and him being snatched from my control and beaten to death right in front of me. Different culture or not, how can anyone think that is appropriate to do?!

I mistakenly opened the page and now I'm crying over that picture.

Me too!!!!!!

This enfuriates me!!!!!!!! :furious: :sad1:
