Wrong name on Flight reservation!

I think you booked at the right time:thumbsup2

Prices this summer are crazy, relatives have paid £2,295 for 2 ad & 1 ch on Thomas Cook, I text them last week and said they needed to book ASAP if they wanted to go, their dates are now TC £3,292, VA £3,347. They will only fly direct so couldn't see them beating £2,295.

At least they admitted it was their fault, could have done without the hassle though.:goodvibes

So called Expedia at 9am this morning and didn't even need to tell them about my internet history as they admitted a syste error at their end straight away. What a relief. They have rebooked ticket for my son. :cool1:Cost today was £1031!
So a stressful 24 hours but feel very happy now. You get to a point where you start to doubt yourself.

Will always take screen prints at every part of booking in future and not use middle names!!!

I'm so pleased you got it sorted.

It's thanks to your experience that I will now take screen prints of my booking pages in future.

On most airlines' own websites, either on the booking page or in any guidance notes or FAQ, they actually tell you not to enter middle names. I never used to know what to do with mine and have had more than my fair share of glitches but they have always been easily resolved in a phone call. Maybe I got lucky, I don't know. But when you first posted it never for a moment occurred to me that you would have any issues sorting this out.

Thankfully now you don't have to change your son's name - twice :rotfl2:

Oh that's such good news. But not without the hassle you received. While I am sure you are happy it is just sorted out and want to leave it there. I think I'd be in a mind to write in a complaint letter - I think they should offer some sort of apology for what happened. You were pretty much blamed for something that wasn't your fault and left panicking which is not acceptable. :scared1:

You have also taught me a lesson - don't enter middle names!

I am also very, very paranoid now about my Mother's name and booking flights for her (never been paranoid before!) as she puts her middle and first names together sometimes. Off to email her now to check what is on her passport! ;)

So pleased you can breathe a big sigh of relief :yay:.

All that happens if you enter a middle name, usually, is that it runs the first letter of the middle name onto the end of the first name.

So Cara Lee Smith because Caral Smith. If you have special characters or a hyphen on your names, type them as one. Cara-Lee Smith becomes either Caralee Smith OR Cara Leesmith. Clearly the latter version is going to cause an issue, whereas the first one will not.

Most booking forms do not cope with special characters. DD and I both have them in our names and as stated, I have learned through some interesting outcomes what not to do.

First name and surname is fine and double barrel names, if your Mom has one, should be entered as one long name without a space OR just the first part before the hyphen :)
