Writers Thread

That's great, ChaCha!!!

Thanks! I was like, who should I write for, I thought maybe the Evil Queen, but then I remembered the sorceress, and there is so little known about her, I was really free to write whatever I felt.

That's cool. I decided to do Scar becausse I have a lot of jealousy towards my older brother so I thought I could understand that part of Scar and write about it.

It's always easier to write when you have something to relate to like that. I like to think that I am not a vain person, and would not care if I was not as okay looking as I am now, (I mean, I think I'm sorta pretty, but I'm not one of those girls who goes around either bragging or trying to get sympathy.) but I know if I had a disfiguring disease, it would not be easy for my to cope with at all, so I tried to put that into my story.

Here's mine. It's not very good, but oh well. (Sorry it's so long)

“It’s a better idea than what King Triton has to offer.” Ursula grumbled as she swam toward her cave. The Court of King Triton had just met, and being Senior Member, you would think that Ursula would have some say in their decisions, but, alas, she didn’t. Her ideas were always thrown down, which was probably because no one in the court liked her, even though she was usually quite kind to them.

King Triton constantly ignored Ursula at these meetings, with no real reason to, and whenever she would speak up, someone would respond with remarks like “ Shhhhh!! Just because you’re King Triton’s sister doesn’t mean you can interrupt!” or, if she was lucky, “Oh, I don’t think that’s a good idea at all…”

But, today, the Court of King Triton had talked about the pollution problem in the ocean that was starting to spread into Atlantica, and Ursula had offered a suggestion, and for the first time, got everyone’s attention.

In Ursula’s opinion, everyone was offering dumb ideas about fixing the problem. One merman offered to have everyone work together and clean out Atlantica. Ursula scoffed, and knew that she should speak up now, because she had a feeling that her idea would be better and quicker than coming together to clean out the whole kingdom.

“Why don’t I just use some magic to clean it all away.” Ursula offered.

Everyone stared at her like she was crazy. No one in the sea, not even King Triton himself had magical powers equal to Ursula, and King Triton had always refused to let Ursula use her powers at all.

This constantly angered Ursula, although she tried not to show it. She knew King Triton was just jealous. Or maybe he thought she was capable of doing very bad things to him or Atlantica.

Ursula didn’t let King Triton stop her though. In secret, Ursula studied magic all the time. There were many different kinds of magic, but Dark Magic seemed to interest her the most. Without King Triton noticing, Ursula practiced many Dark spells, but never anything too big. She had read a spell in one of her books about clearing garbage and human material out of the ocean.

“Ursula, I’ve never let you study or perform magic! What makes you think that you can clear away all this garbage in my kingdom?” King Triton boomed.

“Oh, never mind. It was just an idea…” Ursula said, with a tone of innocence in her voice.

The court was a little uneasy after Ursula’s suggestion, but in half an hour, King Triton and the rest of the court (Except Ursula,) finally agreed to get everyone together to clean out Atlantica.

But Ursula had other ideas. As soon as the meeting had ended, Ursula had swam off to her secret lair outside of Atlantica where she studied her magic. The cave was huge, with many tunnels and passages, and plenty of books about Dark Magic and spells.

Ursula’s eels Flotsam and Jetsam were waiting for her when she entered her cave. “Watch out!" Ursula warned them as she swam to a bookcase in the front room.

The eels sheepishly hid under the bookcase, and watched as she rummaged for her favorite book of dark spells. When she finally found it, she flipped impatiently through the pages, and found it: the spell she was looking for.
Ursula murmured it under her breath a couple of times to get the hang of it, but made sure not to totally perform it. After memorizing it, Ursula swam out of her cave and back into Atlantica.

Grinning happily, Ursula swam into the center of the kingdom, and floated above everyone, her tentacles looking unintentionally menacing. She exclaimed as loudly as she could, “Prepare for the kingdom of Atlantica to change for the better!!!!”

Everyone was staring at Ursula, looks of terror on their faces.

“I will clear away ALL the pollution in the ocean with one simple spell!!” Ursula yelled. Some Merpeople were calling out here and there about Ursula going against King Triton’s orders. They'll all treat me like a hero after this, Ursula thought, even King Triton. They'll all finally like me.

After murmuring a complicated incantation, the ocean turned pitch black with a loud pop.

No one could see anything. After a minute of frantic screams of terror and bumping into other merpeople, the ocean was filled with sunlight again, looking just as it usually looked…except the streets were lined with black gunk, and trash was everywhere.

“WHAT!?” Ursula screamed. “MY SPELL DID NOT WORK!?”

King Triton was swimming as fast as he could towards all the commotion, Sebastian leading the way. He gave a yell of anger when he saw all the garbage in his kingdom. “WHO DID THIS!!!!?” He screamed in an extremely loud, intimidating voice, quite unlike his usually good-natured tone.

A couple shaky fingers pointed towards Ursula.

Ursula was already seething with anger about her spell failing and making a fool of herself, but, now that everyone was blaming her, she couldn’t contain any more of her emotions. “WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO TRITON? BANISH ME? ME, YOUR ONLY SISTER?”

Triton looked furious. “THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT I’M GOING TO DO. LEAVE!!!! LEAVE MY KINGDOM, AND NEVER RETURN!!!!”

Huffing, Ursula swam out of Atlantica, all eyes on her. Once out of the kingdom, Ursula went straight for her cave. “Flotsam, Jetsam,” she barked upon entering, “I am living here permanently now, and together, we will continue studying Dark Magic, so one day I can take over Atlantica!”
Flotsam and Jetsam’s mouths were watering, like the idea of ruling Atlantica seemed to be just too delicious.

Ursula grinned at them, and yelled “I WILL DESTROY KING TRITON!!!”

I love this. I also like that is has reference to an environmental issue too, so it almost serves a duel purpose!

I'm not sure how many are doing this challenge..I know for sure we're waiting for one more, but I'm not sure if others are doing it.

Sorry I'm joining in late, but I'm definitely doing this one!! And sorry Caitlyn for not getting back to you. Also, I sent that PM to you before I read your post on here. Sorry. I wasn't very clear when I announced Erin could run the next one. Sorry!! :confused3

Anyways...I'll do Mother Gothel!!

(by the way, James is Captain Hook's real name. I looked it up.)

"Are you sure you'll be okay, James?" My mother handed me a lunch sack and placed her shaking hand on mine.

I nodded my head and smiled at her, my black hair moving swiftly, "I'll be fine mother."

She smiled at me and kissed my forehead and let go of my hand. I heard a sob or two from the doorway as she watched me walk down the street, my school supplies in hand. It was my first day of "big kid school" and my mother was worried sick that something would happen to me. I had no fret as I crossed the busy streets of London and scrambled up the steps to the big school building. I immediatly caught sight of a tubby boy in a stripped white and blue shirt.

"Smee!" I called out to him. He glanced over his shoulder and smiled when he saw a familiar face.

"James, we're in Miss Mallette's class together!" Smee showed me his paper he held clutched in his hands. Sure enough both of our names were listed under the teacher Miss Mallette. I let out a sigh of relief and followed my good friend and trusted side-kick to our classroom.

"Hello boys and girls!" Miss Mallette's soft voice filled the room. A reply of "Hello Miss" was said and our young teacher welcomed us to our new school. She informed us of the rules of her classroom and went over our busy schedule of coloring and learning how to write our letters. Before long, Miss Mallette released us to go to the playground behind the school for recess.

Smee and I headed straight for the swing set, when a faint glow caught my eye. I stopped in my tracks and looked down at my feet where a glowing little creature laid, hurt. Bending down to get a closer look at this odd sight, I saw the little thing was a fairy. A gasp left my lips and I ran to find my teacher, to show her what I had found.

Now, please remember, I'm a good child. I didn't lie or get into fights. I did my school work and I helped my mother. Making something up was just not what I did.

"James what on earth am I supposed to be looking at?" Miss Mallette sounded frustrated as we both looked at the ground where the fairy used to lay. But she was gone now.

"There was a fairy Miss! I swear there was!"

"Do not swear James."

"Sorry Miss." I avoided her eyes.

"Lying is a horrible thing, James. I'm afraid I'm going to have to call your mother and you will have to go home until tomorrow." Miss Mallette took my hand and dragged me back inside the school building.

"No please don't Miss!" I sobbed. Mother would be furious at me for having to get a call from the school on my very first day, "I'm very sorry! It won't happen again."

"It's too late, James, you must now deal with the consequences." Miss Mallette called the operator and was soon on the phone with my mother.

Thirty minutes later I was sitting in my bedroom, crying. Mother was not happy I had lied and she had to get a phone call. She sent me straight to my room and told me I would not be having supper and I would have to apologize many times to Miss Mallette tomorrow. I sat in bed and thought about how this was not my fault. It was that fairies fault. It shouldn't have dissapeared. If it had just stayed where it was, I wouldn't have gotten in trouble!

Years past and I never forgot that day. I never let it go. I held a grudge against that horrible fairy. Thirty years later, I had never forgotten my first day of school and the horrible turn out. It had potentially ruined my life. All of the teachers rolled their eyes when they found out that "the lying boy" was in their class, "the fairy believer". Kids laughed at me for thinking fairies were real, and even Smee joined in with them. They made my school life a terrible experience. And I hated them all. But more than anything, I hated fairies. I plotted revenge against the little creatures, and I would have it. And the day came not too long after my thirty-sixth birthday.

I was living with my ill mother in the house I grew up in. I never married or had children, since everyone hated me and I hated everyone. But mother insisted I have a birthday party. So she invited some neighbors and people who had gone to my school.

"Mother I refuse to go." I had told her, but she paid no attention to me. She thought I'd come anyways. I wish I could've seen the look on her face when the clock struck eight and I wasn't even at my own party.

I strolled down the sidewalk of a quiet London road, minding my own business, when suddenly, an oddly familiar glow caught my eye. The faint yellow glow of a fairy. I ran towards the other side of the street where the fairy was laying. It looked right up at me and pointed to its foot, which looked hurt. I picked up the delicate creature and decided to help the thing that had caused me a school life of humiliation. I wrapped a cloth around its foot and the fairy looked good as new. It fluttered up to my eye level and smiled at me. It seemed to think a minute before flying above my head and shaking sparkling dust all over my head. I was confused on what was happening, and when I started to rise up in the air, I freaked out. But the fairy remained calm and motioned for me to follow it. So I did. It flew up into the sky, onto Big Ben, and then pointed to a star in the evening sky, trying to tell me that was where we were going.

Soon we landed in a strange place and I was surrounded by other fairies. They all seemed to like me and seemed to be thanking me for helping their friend. But I didn't want their thanks, I wanted revenge. I pulled out a butterfly net from my coat pocket and caught as many of the flying beasts as I could- I caught a good forty of the nasty things, and then I stuffed them all in a jar, dropped it on the ground, and walked away to explore this new place.

There were Indians, and Lost Boys, mermaids, and pirates. I danced with the Indians, laughed with the mermaids, ignored the young Lost Boys, and caught a keen interest with the Pirates. I liked this place, called NeverLand. I decided not to leave. I became Captain James of my very own flying ship, the Jolly Roger Galleon. I picked up Smee from London and brought him to NeverLand with me, where he became my right-hand man on the ship. And before long, like all great pirates I had an enemy. A young boy by the name of Peter Pan. He cut off my hand when he found out what I had done to the fairies. I decided to go by "Captain Hook" from my start in NeverLand, a new identity- a new life. I wasn't going to be the goody-goody I had been with my mother, I was going to be an evil gold hunting pirate with a hatred for fairies and a boy named Peter Pan.

Okay..her's mine. Sorry it's so long! And...it's not very good...but WHATEVER!!

Mother Gothel (Rapunzel)
“Amaryllis!”

Always. Forever. Eternal.

“Amaryllis!!!”

Routine. Never stop.

“AMARYLLIS!”

“I’m coming, I’m coming!!” , I called. She was my sister…and my queen. However, as far as she was concerned…we had no relation. I may be a princess by blood. But, to her, I was just as filthy as the commoners.

I made my way up the stairs, to her chamber. “Yes,Tacy?”

“Oh…hello, dear!!”, my sister greeted, sing-song-ingly. I had to stop myself from gagging.

“I was actually wondering if you could do me a favor…”, she asked, timidly. Of course she was. That’s all she wanted. Ever.

I, unconsciously, ran through my mental script of what to say next. “Yes, sister. Of course. Anything for you.” I was sure to send her a clear message through my tone of voice. I think she got it, from the look on her face
.
“Welll…I was wanting you to go and get me the milk from Tucker. You know that I need plenty of milk for when the baby is born. And…I’m feeling weaker every day. I guess it’s just the baby weighing me down. I don’t know how I’m going to be able to care for her well, though, if I keep getting worse. I do hope the doctor finds medicine.”, she started going on one of her many rants. Like usual.

“Of course, Tacy. I’ll be back by nightfall.” I, monotonously, responded. What other choice did I have??

So, I saddled Shy Anne, my horse, and rode out to the pasture, where I could find Tucker. She was our best dairy cow, and always produced an abundance of milk.
That’s when I saw it.

It was a golden glowing flower.

My curiosity got the better of me as I got off of Shy Anne and walked, slowly towards the flower. I was so intrigued that I didn’t realize what I was doing, until I had already touched it. At once, all of the ugly freckles on my arm that I had been teased about incessantly my whole 14 years of life, disappeared.

This was no ordinary flower.

I touched it with my other hand, making all of the other freckles disappear as well. I was becoming more and more curious about its powers when I looked up and saw that the stars were already appearing. I had promised Tacy that I would be back at the palace by nightfall. The flower would have to wait. I quickly covered my discovery and loaded Shy Anne. I finally had something to be envious of.
**********************************************************
I returned to the flower every evening learning that this flower had many other abilities. Not only could it give you the perfect appearance, but it could heal you, make you age faster, slower, or stay the same forever. But, each required some sort of gesture or incantation. To change your appearance, you simply had to touch it. To make your age different, you would have to sing to the flower.

Flower, gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine

And so on. It was different for every spell. This flower could do almost anything. A true blessing. Fit for a queen.

Tacy would surely try to take this.

I knew what I had to do.
*********************************************************
The next night. I returned to my magic flower. My flower could not be discovered. Therefore, I would have to watch it day and night….myself. As a sister to the queen, and royal blood, whether she treated me like it or not, I would never be allowed to stay outside of the palace. So, I had devised a plan to not be recognizable. I sung the age incantation, making it turn me into a 55 year old woman with black hair, and gray eyes. My sister would never recognize me as her 14 year old red haired, green eyed, freckled little sister. Ha! I could be her mother!

Our mother.

Those were the two words that could instantly bring tears to my eyes. She was killed in a horse accident. That’s when Tacy had to take over the kingdom, leaving me…her 11 year old sister in the hands of…well, no one. She was 16 when she took on the role of Queen and married. 3 years later, at the age of 19…they were expecting their first child. That is when I grew to resent my sister. The hatred of her began to grow in the 3 years leading up until that significant night at the flower, when I finally had enough. Mother wouldn’t have wanted her kingdom run like this. I would have done a much better job as queen.

That’s who I was doing this for. Mother.

As I took a look at my reflection in the pond next to the flower, I couldn’t help but laugh. If Mother could see me now. Her little pipsqueak…now a 55 year old woman. As I looked up into the stars, I saw a star twinkle real bright and then go dark. At the time, I thought it was just my imagine. But now, as I tell this story…I know the ending. My light was about to go out.

I'm gonna do Lady Tremaine, unless someone's already doing that.

Maleficent. That is what they call me. The peasants, nobles, royals, even other fairies. I like it, even enjoy the name and the sense of fear it instills. It suits me. It’s cruel yet beautiful, just like me. But I’m not bitter. The twists and turns in my life that have caused this change of name had truly been beneficial even when they seemed to be hurtful at the time. I’m not bitter. In fact I’m grateful to the cruel workings of fate that have led me to this point.

Yes, I felt bad, at the time. I’ve been asked over and over. Cursing the baby princess was both the most satisfactory and guilty act I had ever done. It was vengeful and cruel but he deserved it. No one can dispute that. Stefan deserved it. Yes, he deserved it.

I was beautiful once. My complexion clear and smooth. My hair long, dark and luscious. I used to have everything I could want. The daughter of a wealthy lord who owned a large manor. The object of many a young lord or knight’s fancy. I was known as Mary Rose then. I had a heart then. I used to be beautiful. Yes, I once was beautiful.

Love held me in its falsely hopeful, pretty grasp at one point. It was my downfall. I should not have trusted something so intangible, so destructive. I know better now. Stefan may have attracted my attention at first. We may have courted. But that didn’t stop him from dropping me. And trust me, it was a long fall.

When I was young, I learned the secrets of the fairies. I learned to weave spells and cast charms and I became rather good at it. Actually, more than merely good. The fairies began to notice, they talked. One became jealous. She threatened to curse me forever if I did not give up my magic. I refused. I was too fond of my power. My skin turned green and my hair to horns. Though my features were untouched, my skin and horns were enough. Enough to be shunned.

Stefan was afraid. If my outward appearance was not enough I had begun to use my power in new ways. Stefan disapproved. He decided another girl would suit him better. He broke my heart. Then and there I decided. I would be cold and evil and cruel. I would repay the world for my life. I would give Stefan what he deserved. I froze myself. From outside all the way to my heart which I now imagine resembles a slab of marble. I swore to get revenge.

I surrounded myself with the foul and the ugly. They were revolting and I was not. They made me feel so much more beautiful and regal and proud. Except for my raven. He was my company. My equal. And so I set about to get revenge on Stefan.

He didn’t invite me to my own daughter’s Christening. I should have married Stefan. So I regarded Aurora as mine. I did the deed. I tried to get my revenge. That was all I asked. That was all.

I wasn’t always cruel. Maybe somewhere, at the beginning, I was remorseful. But not now. I’m not bitter. Just determined. Just resolved. My life was never my own before now. I am not bitter. I’m grateful.

So many people submitted stories, that I dont fel likw quoting tem all. Soooo....

GREAT JOB, EVERYONE!!!!
