I just got my proposal from the wp and it is so far off from my budget that I discussed with the wp...on the same night I put a deposit on my gown! I am so bummed. Did anyone else experience an outrageous proposal, and were the final numbers worked to an affordable figure??? :confused3

Hi if you don't mind me asking are you planning on having an intimate wedding or a custom? I realized that I can't afford to have a custom wedding and I couldn't bring it to my parents and ask them to pay for it so I decided on going with an intimate then my mom is going to plan a huge reception at home in the spring time for all that were not invited and couldn't come to the wedding. I have my heart set on the WP, and I don't care if it is a small group of us- I feel I will have less stress that day not having to worry about aunt so and so that I have only met once in my life! I'm sure there are some ways to stay with the WP like if you were planning a custom to go to an intimate?

Are proposals written up for everyone who is interested in having a wedding? Our EM made it sound like she was writing one up for us so we knew how close we were going to be to our budget. Are there anyitems on your proposal that can be cut? I know that our EM told us that they were just going to throw generic items (such as food/cake/etc.) just to get an idea. What we actually choose may be lower than what they had put in the proposal. If you are very concerned I would talk to them asap! :worried:

Hey there.
My proposal for a custom wedding was outrageous too.
The floral and extra little fees they like to throw on there as a surprise is so depressing.
So I just went with a totally upgraded intimate wedding.
Couldn't be happier and I didn't feel like I got ripped off.
They may be able to take 10% off here and there.
But you can still count on your estimate being $5,000 more than you expected.
Hope that helps.
Thanks
Gabrielle

Whoa...I'm getting really worried! Are you saying a quote of 5,000 more than you expected for an intimate or a custom? We booked for Jan 8th 2007 at Seabreeze pointe but we are planning on changing it to the WP in April. We just went ahead and booked with Seabreeze so we could schedule our MK photo shoot, photographer, and so on. We picked an intimate b/c all we can afford is 6,000 for the wedding max. Let me know if I should give up hope now. :worried:

Intimate weddings don't really get price proposals. They are talking about custom weddings. You can accurately calculate an intimate wedding just with the wishbook.

Oh thank god! She gave us a direct price for Seabreeze pointe but she couldn't for the WP b/c they haven't written their contracts for 2007 and I can only book 8 months out because I'm an intimate. Thanks for taking a lot off my mind

Well I'm not sure about the new prices, but in the past two years (for intimates) the packages have only increased by $200. It shouldn't be anything too dramatic.

When we got our original proposal, it was around 5-6 thousand off what we told her our budget was. They are trying to sell you on things so if you go back through and take a look at it, you might find things that are unnecessary. We looked through ours and could immediately take off that 5-6 thousand ++just through taking off completely unnecessary items that they threw in. Don't let the proposal bum you out, because its easy to fix and your EM should work with you to get the price down! Good Luck!

Your BEO is based on your "DREAM" wedding. Remember that there are ways to cut. It is all about priorities. If you want to send it to someone and have them look at it I can try and help you cut down on things, as I have just gone through this. PM me if you want me to take a look.

Our 'proposed budget' from our sales manager was a bit on the crazy side as well. But we were able to look at it and cut some of the standard things immediately and that got it down to the realistic range.

When we went in and met with our EM the first time, we told her what our budget was. But, in the planning, we threw it to the wind. We planned the "perfect" wedding with all the upgrades and extras we thought we might possible want. After we got the BEO and budget, we sat down together and starting nixing things that weren't important to us but that would have been wonderful in an ideal world- the $4.00/each tuxedo folded napkins, the Rolls Royce, etc. There wer things I wouldn't budge on, things he wouldn't budge on, and things our parents wouldn't budge on. I suspect you planned the "perfect" wedding, too.

If you didn't, now would be the time to accurately review your guest count and what you can realistically afford. Take a look at the individual budgets (floral, photogrpahy, videography, etc) and see if you can make substitutions or use outside vendors that would bring down the price. For example, with your flowers, padding them out with greens and in-season floral will greatly reduce the cost. If you're not set on the time of the day of your wedding, you may be able to reduce the costs by choosing a lunch or brunch menu instead of a full dinner menu.

My best advice: Do not over-extend yourself on the ticket price of the wedding alone. There are 100s of other little things (that all cost money) that will go into your overall wedding budget. Some of the big ones are obvious- transportation to Florida, hotel nights while you're there, food/spending money. Others, alteration costs, accesories costs, tips, gown steaming, etc., are "hidden" but are very, very real.

I am planning a custom wedding with 75-100 people. Really did not think the bill would get to be so outrageous but all of the "little extras" really add up - like the motor coaches and flowers!

How did you find out about outside venders? And is Disney ok with you bringing in the outside venders?

My estimate that they give us at the site visit was 10 grand more than the budget my parents had given me. I definitely had to pare things down, but I don't think we missed out on anything...
